What You'll Do
You'll play a key role in delivering high-quality technical analysis to support complex interconnection and transmission planning projects. Your work will help ensure reliable grid integration of renewable energy systems through:
- Conducting detailed EMT studies to assess risks like sub-synchronous resonance (SSR), switching overvoltages (SOV), and control interactions (SSCI)
- Developing, tuning, and benchmarking PSCAD models against PSSE simulations for accuracy and compliance
- Automating simulation workflows to increase speed, reduce errors, and enhance model reliability
- Supporting R&D efforts focused on advancing analytical methods and expanding simulation capabilities
- Preparing technical reports and presentations that communicate findings clearly to clients, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies
- Advising on generator and large load interconnections while ensuring alignment with NERC, IEEE, and CIGRE standards
- Managing deliverables to meet project budgets, timelines, and quality expectations
- Building lasting client relationships by providing strategic guidance across utilities, developers, and system operators
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with a focus on Power Systems and Control
- Hands-on experience with PSCAD
- Knowledge of inverter-based resources (solar, wind, storage) and associated controls
- Solid understanding of power system fundamentals, renewable energy integration, and stability analysis
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills
- Ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced team environment
Preferred qualifications:
- PE license and/or PhD in Power Systems
- Experience performing EMT and SSR studies
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python or MATLAB
- Familiarity with additional power system analysis software (PSS/E, DigSilent, TSAT, TARA, ASPEN)
- Knowledge of ERCOT, PJM, MISO, NYISO, or ISO-NE market interconnection practices
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $100,000 – $130,000 (depending on experience and location)
- 401(k) with company match, generous medical, dental, and vision benefits
