PRx Performance is a leader in the design, development, manufacturing, and distribution of a broad range of fitness equipment with a strong reputation of quality and customer service. We are seeking an organized, detailed, and energetic Full-Time Design Engineer to join our talented and customer-focused team. This is an in-office position that reports to our Director of Product. PRx is based in Fargo, North Dakota.
Position Summary:
As a Design Engineer at PRx Performance, you'll play a key role in developing innovative, space-efficient fitness equipment from concept through production. You'll combine mechanical design expertise, hands-on prototyping, and collaboration with manufacturing to create durable, functional, and aesthetically appealing products that align with the PRx brand.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop innovative new product concepts and enhance existing designs for strength training and storage solutions.
- Design components and assemblies using sheet metal, tubing, welded structures, and plastic materials.
- Create detailed CAD models and technical drawings for prototyping, fabrication, and assembly.
- Build and test prototypes to validate performance, functionality, ergonomics, and safety standards.
- Document design iterations, testing results, and improvements to support continuous product development.
- Collaborate closely with production and fabrication teams to transition designs from concept to full-scale manufacturing.
- Generate accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) and detailed manufacturing documentation.
- Troubleshoot production challenges and identify design improvements to increase quality and efficiency.
- Analyze design proposals and technical information to identify potential risks or issues during development.
- Identify opportunities to innovate, streamline production, and reduce costs while maintaining PRx Performance's high-quality standards.
- Prepare and present designs during review meetings for discussion and feedback.
- Revise and refine designs based on feedback until all performance and project requirements are met.
- Manage multiple design projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining attention to detail.
Experience, Skills, and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in an Engineering or equivalent experience
- Proficiency in SolidWorks to create 3D models and technical drawings is a must
- An understanding of manufacturing processes and construction methods
- Experience with fabrication processes (welding, laser cutting, forming, powder coating).
- Strong problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
- A creative, logical approach for generating new ideas and solutions, with the ability to transition through to part development
- Ability to work well with others in a team environment, provide input and feedback in a helpful manner
