Histologist Contract Consultant

Job Overview
We are seeking a qualified Histologist Contract Consultant to support our growing histopathology laboratory by consulting and training staff to prepare and process tissue specimens for research purposes. Your expertise will ensure accurate specimen handling, precise laboratory techniques, and adherence to safety protocols.

Duties

• Design, plan and implement a histopathology laboratory.
• Prepare, section, stain, and mount tissue specimens using various histological techniques to ensure high-quality slides for diagnosis or research.
• Handle and process biological specimens with precision, following strict client and quality procedures.
• Maintain detailed records of specimen processing steps, results, and laboratory activities in compliance with regulatory standards.
• Assist in the setup and calibration of laboratory equipment such as microtomes, cryostats, and staining machines to ensure optimal performance.
• Support research activities by preparing samples for microscopic examination and collaborating with pathologists or researchers on experimental procedures.
• Adhere to all safety guidelines related to laboratory techniques, handling hazardous materials, and maintaining a clean and safe environment.

Requirements

• Proven experience working in clinical or research laboratory settings with a focus on histology or pathology.
• Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology relevant to tissue analysis.
• Hands-on experience with laboratory procedures including specimen collection, processing, embedding, sectioning, staining, and mounting tissues.
• Familiarity with laboratory techniques such as aseptic technique, microscopy, and quality control measures.
• Ability to accurately interpret vital signs and apply physiology knowledge during specimen handling or patient-related procedures like phlebotomy.
• Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in documenting laboratory activities and results.
• Effective communication skills for collaborating with multidisciplinary teams in hospital or research environments.

Job Types: Part-time, Contract, Per diem

Pay: $ $40.00 per hour

Expected hours: 8 – 25 per week
