Role Summary
We are seeking a Project Manager to join our team. This individual will be a key member of our team, as they will be the company's primary customer contact, responsible for all post-sale customer and vendor communication, as well as project scope, schedule, costs, and change-orders. The Project Manager will be proactive in problem resolution, in quality and safety assurance, and proper project documentation. Success will be measured by ensuring customer satisfaction and meeting safety, quality, and profitability goals. The right candidate will have a strong work ethic and will be efficient and accurate in their work, with an ability to work independently.
Reporting to the VP of Design, the Project Manager will receive a generous compensation package, including employer subsidized Medical Insurance; company provided Life, Short-Term Disability, and Long-Term Disability Insurance; 401k with company match, affordable Dental and Vision Insurance; paid holidays; and up to two weeks of Paid Time Off in the first year of employment.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a complete and thorough understanding of the project contract documents.
- Assist in building the project schedule, bid documents as needed, and maintain schedules.
- Meet or exceed agreed upon scope, cost, schedule and quality and safety measures.
- Manage daily operational aspects including customer interaction and tracking and reporting on project milestones as required by Rubb's Senior Management.
- Work closely with the General Manger to set company priorities and assign resources.
- Analyze blueprints, drawings, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
- Assess cost effectiveness of products, projects and services, and track actual costs to bid estimates,
- Prepare and process change orders when appropriate,
- Consult productively with vendors and Rubb personnel to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
- Collaborate in the preparation of estimates used by sales for purposes such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work.
- Prepare reports and analyses, setting forth progress, adverse trends and appropriate recommendations or conclusions.
- Manage preparation and execution of project close-out documentation such as final job costing.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Previous project management and estimating experience, preferably in the manufacturing and/or construction field.
- Bachelor's Degree related to Project Management and/or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.
- Strong computer skills, particularly Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Project – CAD knowledge a plus.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Detail oriented with accurate math skills, particularly in the area of accounting.
- Deadline conscious with positive attitude and energy.
- Able to quickly and productively adapt to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities and teamwork.
- Project a positive, capable personality to customers
- Travel approximately 10% of the year
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time (e.g., 6-8 hours per day).
- Ability to occasionally stand, walk, or move around the office or work areas.
- Ability to frequently lift and carry objects of moderate weight (e.g., up to 10-20 pounds) with occasional lifting heavier items.
- Ability to facilitate basic computer functions such as typing, using a mouse, operating office equipment (e.g., phones, printers, fax machines), or handling documents whether using standard office tools or adaptive equipment.
- Ability to focus on detailed tasks, whether reading, writing, or reviewing data on screen or on paper
- Ability to communicate effectively in person, by phone, or through virtual platforms.
- Ability to work in a typical office environment, which may include air conditioning, artificial lighting, and background noise from phones, conversations, or equipment.
- Comfortable working in shared spaces with colleagues, in open-plan offices or cubicles, or at a personal desk.
- Ability to occasionally travel for work-related events or meetings, whether locally or for short trips.
Schedule:
- Our general operating hours are Monday-Friday 8:00 AM-4:30 PM
- This position is based out of our Sanford, Maine, office, though occasional remote work may be considered after a period of demonstrated job proficiency.
