Yard Manager

We are seeking a reliable, hands-on Yard Manager to oversee daily operations at our shipping container yard. This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in organization, equipment operation, and keeping a yard running smoothly. The Yard Manager will be responsible for handling containers, maintaining inventory accuracy, ensuring yard cleanliness, and assisting customers during on-site visits.

This is primarily an operational role with light customer interaction. The containers sell themselves—your job is to present them well and keep operations moving efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate wheel loader and other yard equipment to load and unload shipping containers
• Coordinate inbound and outbound truck traffic, ensuring safe and efficient container handling
• Stage, organize, and maintain container inventory within the yard
• Enter and update container inventory and notes in our CRM system
• Inspect incoming and outgoing units for condition, damage, and readiness
• Sweep out, clean, and perform basic repairs or touch-ups on containers as needed
• Maintain overall yard cleanliness, organization, and safety
• Greet customers arriving at the yard, show available units, and answer basic questions
• Ensure all yard operations run smoothly day-to-day
• Communicate with management regarding inventory levels, issues, or maintenance needs

Required Qualifications

• Experience operating heavy equipment (wheel loader or similar preferred)
• Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Mechanically inclined and capable of basic repairs and maintenance
• Basic computer skills and ability to learn and use a CRM system
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to interact professionally with customers and truck drivers
• Dependable, punctual, and self-motivated

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in container yards, heavy equipment, construction, or logistics
• CDL (not required, but a plus)
• Forklift or machinery certifications (a plus, not required)
• Prior experience in yard, warehouse, or operations management

Pay: $ $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
