Security Officer

World Ice Arena in Flushing Meadows Corona Park is looking for a Part time Security Officer to join our team.

Essential Job Functions may include:

• Performs protective and enforcement/patrol duties for the safety of guests and associates and the security of the property.
• Answers radio calls for assistance from guests and associates.
• Initiates and follow-up on investigations of incidents that occur in facility.
• Patrols property for security and safety issues and corrects or documents findings.
• Assists maintenance team with various handyman and security functions, as needed.
• Assists department manager or security supervisor in maintenance of crisis management plans, safety programs, and other department initiatives.
• Responsible for the disposition and storage of lost and found items including follow up calls to guest regarding lost items.
• Patrol property and respond in a timely manner
• Monitor surveillance systems to identify and resolve disturbances
• Provide assistance to people who need it, including assisting people with their belongings.
• Check wristband upon entry
• Control the crowd
• Assist in First Aid aid incident reports
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education, Skills & Experience:

• The ideal candidate for this opportunity must be alert, brave, proactive and be able to provide exemplary customer service to both guests/owners and associates.
• 1+ year of security related background
• Experience in patrol techniques and crisis management is preferred
• High school or equivalent education. Education and training in the Protective Services Field experience is highly preferred
• Ability to work weekends and evenings
• State Guard card is required
• Current CPR/AED certification is preferred
• Communicates effectively with guests, supervisors and associates.
• Stay informed concerning emergency procedures, current projects, security issues, and location of emergency equipment.
• Strong customer focus and customer service skills
• Must be flexible to work various shifts including weekends and holidays
• Must have excellent customer service skills.
• Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Must have excellent organizational skills and be able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

Additional Job Elements:

Must be able to stand/walk for up to 8 hours. Must also be able to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, & crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds in an emergency.
