The Role

The company is seeking an exceptional Staff Engineer to architect and deliver scalable, high-performance systems powering our AI-driven dental imaging and analytics platform. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to build mission-critical backend services, optimize ML integrations, and ensure reliability at massive scale. This role offers a chance to drive technical innovation in dental AI while mentoring engineers and shaping the companys engineering excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain high-performance backend services and microservices using Python, Go, Java, or similar for AI/ML workflows and dental data processing.
  • Lead technical architecture decisions, including scalability, performance optimization, and integration with cloud-native tools like Kubernetes and serverless compute.
  • Mentor junior and mid-level engineers through code reviews, pair programming, and knowledge sharing to elevate team capabilities.
  • Collaborate with product, data science, and DevOps teams to deliver end-to-end features from ideation to production deployment.
  • Implement monitoring, alerting, and observability solutions to maintain 99.99% uptime for real-time dental AI applications.
  • Drive code quality, testing strategies, and CI/CD improvements to accelerate delivery without sacrificing reliability.
  • Contribute to technical roadmaps, proof-of-concepts, and experiments that advance the company's AI platform capabilities.

Who you are

  • You thrive in high-growth environments, balancing deep technical expertise with pragmatic execution to ship impactful features quickly.
  • You are a natural mentor who invests in others' growth, fostering collaboration and knowledge-sharing across teams.
  • You excel at complex problem-solving, breaking down ambiguous challenges into actionable plans with clear trade-offs.
  • You communicate effectively with engineers, product managers, and executives, translating technical concepts for diverse audiences.
  • You stay ahead of industry trends in cloud, AI infrastructure, and scalable systems, applying them to real-world dental health challenges.
  • You embody ownership, diving deep into issues and iterating until optimal solutions emerge.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of software engineering experience, with 3+ years at a staff or senior level in fast-paced startups or scale-ups.
  • Proven expertise in backend development, distributed systems, and data-intensive applications; experience with ML pipelines a strong plus.
  • Hands-on proficiency in cloud platforms (AWS/GCP), containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and modern practices like CI/CD and IaC.
  • Strong knowledge of RESTful APIs, databases (SQL/NoSQL), caching, and messaging systems (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ).
  • Familiarity with Python, Java, Go, or C#, plus JavaScript/TypeScript for full-stack contributions.
  • Track record of mentoring teams, leading cross-functional projects, and delivering production systems at scale.
  • Experience in healthtech, AI, or regulated industries (e.g., HIPAA compliance) preferred.
