Entanglement, Inc. is a cutting-edge technology company at the forefront of artificial intelligence, high-performance computing, and advanced infrastructure solutions. Our mission is to build and scale next-generation systems that enable breakthroughs in AI and enterprise applications. We are seeking a hands-on, Junior Systems Technician (high-performance edge computing), in a part-time capacity.
Location: Miami, FL | Job Type: Part-Time (with potential to transition to Full-Time)
Experience Level: Junior / Associate
Role
We are looking for a hands-on, detail-oriented Junior Systems Technician to lead the physical construction, configuration, and maintenance of Raspberry Pi-based compute clusters.
This is a unique opportunity for a maker, student, or junior IT professional who loves the intersection of hardware and software. You will not only assemble the physical nodes but also bootstrap the operating systems and configure the orchestration layer using Docker and Kubernetes.
Key Responsibilities
1. Hardware Assembly & Management
- Assemble multi-node Raspberry Pi clusters, including casing, stand-offs, and active cooling systems (fans/heatsinks).
- Manage power distribution and cable management for clean, professional, and accessible rack/stack setups.
- Install and configure storage solutions (NVMe, SSDs, or high-endurance SD cards).
- Perform physical troubleshooting of hardware failures (power supply issues, overheating, bad interfaces).
2. System Configuration (Linux)
- Flash and provision Linux operating systems (Raspberry Pi OS, Ubuntu Server, or DietPi) across multiple nodes.
- Perform headless setups and manage initial boot configurations (user accounts, SSH keys, hostname assignment).
- Script basic automation tasks using Bash or Python to streamline the provisioning process.
3. Containerization & Orchestration
- Install and configure container runtimes (Docker/Containerd).
- Bootstrap Kubernetes clusters (specifically lightweight distributions like K3s, MicroK8s, or K0s).
- Verify cluster health and node status.
4. Networking & Security
- Configure static IPs, subnets, and VLANs for cluster communication.
- Manage physical and logical networking (Layer 2 switching, cabling).
- Implement baseline security measures: Firewall configuration (UFW/iptables), SSH hardening, and user privilege management.
Required Qualifications
- Hardware: Experience with Single Board Computers (SBCs), specifically Raspberry Pi (Model 4 or 5). You should be comfortable handling small electronics.
- Linux: Solid understanding of the Linux Command Line Interface (CLI). You should be comfortable navigating the file system, editing config files (nano/vim), and managing systemd services.
- Networking: Understanding of basic networking concepts (IP addresses, DHCP vs. Static, DNS, Ports, Switches).
- Containers: Functional knowledge of Docker (pulling images, running containers, Docker Compose).
- Kubernetes: Conceptual understanding of Kubernetes architecture (Nodes, Pods, Services) and basic experience with kubectl.
- Security: Awareness of basic cybersecurity hygiene (Key-based auth, least privilege).
Preferred (Bonus) Skills
- Experience with Ansible or Terraform for automation (Infrastructure as Code).
- Experience with Prometheus and Grafana for monitoring system metrics.
- Knowledge of PXE Boot / Network booting.
- Experience with soldering or basic electronics repair.
- Enthusiasm for Homelab or "Maker" projects.
