As a Shipping Clerk, you will be responsible for ensuring that all orders are accurately picked, packed, labeled, and shipped in a timely manner, meeting customer expectations and company standards. Your role is crucial in maintaining the smooth flow of our outbound logistics operations. You will interact with various carriers, prepare shipping documentation, and work closely with other warehouse staff to guarantee accuracy and efficiency. Responsibilities:
- Accurately pick, pack, and prepare orders for shipment according to specifications.
- Verify order details against shipping documents to ensure accuracy.
- Label packages with appropriate shipping information and tracking numbers.
- Coordinate with shipping carriers (e.g., FedEx, UPS, USPS, LTL) to schedule pickups and manage outgoing freight.
- Prepare bills of lading, shipping manifests, and other necessary documentation.
- Operate shipping equipment such as pallet jacks and potentially forklifts (training available).
- Conduct final quality checks on outgoing shipments to ensure they meet standards.
- Maintain a clean and organized shipping area.
- Adhere to all safety protocols, including the correct use of PPE, to ensure a safe working environment.
- Assist with inventory management tasks as needed.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding shipment status.
- Understand and execute tasks related to logistics and supply chain operations, which may involve lifting items up to 40 lbs.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a shipping or logistics role is preferred.
- Familiarity with shipping software and carrier portals.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in order processing.
- Basic math skills for verifying quantities and dimensions.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Understanding of safety procedures and the importance of PPE.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods and perform tasks involving lifting.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
