We are looking for a detail-oriented Shipping Clerk to manage outbound shipments from our facility in Washington, D.C. In this critical role, you will be responsible for processing shipping orders, preparing merchandise for shipment, and coordinating with carriers. Accuracy, efficiency, and a commitment to Safety are key to success in this position. You will ensure that all shipments are accurately documented, correctly packed, and dispatched on time. This role requires a solid understanding of shipping procedures, carrier requirements, and warehouse logistics. You will work closely with inventory, sales, and logistics teams to ensure a seamless flow of goods.
Responsibilities:
- Process and prepare outgoing shipments, including order verification and documentation.
- Pack merchandise securely and efficiently for shipment.
- Schedule and coordinate pick-ups with various shipping carriers.
- Generate shipping labels and prepare bills of lading.
- Maintain accurate shipping records and update the Warehouse Management System (WMS).
- Communicate with customers and internal departments regarding shipment status.
- Inspect outgoing shipments for accuracy and damage.
- Adhere to all company Safety policies and ensure proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Assist with other warehouse duties as needed, including Lifting and moving packages.
- Contribute to the overall efficiency of the logistics department.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in shipping, receiving, or logistics preferred.
- Familiarity with shipping software and carrier systems.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must be able to handle moderate Lifting (up to 40 lbs).
- Knowledge of warehouse operations and Safety procedures.
