Design Engineer -
in our office in the beautiful Peak District National Park.
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Design Engineer to join our dynamic team. You will play a crucial role delivering high-quality, cost-effective solutions tailored to our clients’ needs. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to innovative projects, continuously improve our processes, and ensure excellence in design and delivery.
Primary responsibilities:
Design high quality products, using 3D CAD software, tailored to customer requirements.
Create and work to technical specifications.
Work directly with customers to provide a premium, custom design service.
Develop and work to precise technical specifications.
Build and maintain in-depth knowledge of existing products, applying company best practices.
Create detailed drawings for use in Manufacturing.
Stay abreast of modern materials, technologies, and industry best practices to drive continuous improvement.
Identify problems and evaluate potential solutions to meet client needs.
Produce detailed drawings for use in manufacturing.
Work within agreed timescales and budgets, escalating any deviations promptly.
Prepare documents, test specifications and instruction manuals.
Ensure compliance with all relevant safety and performance standards.
Key skills and qualifications:
Strong engineering background with experience in product design and development.
Proven experience as a Design Engineer using CAD software.
Practical experience in a mechanical manufacturing environment, with a relevant qualification at HND level or equivalent.
Knowledge of applicable directives, norms, and standards used in light industrial applications.
Excellent technical drawing and specification skills.
Good knowledge of mechanisms, gearing, basic pneumatics, and ability to perform basic calculations.
Good understanding of welding and fabrication practices.
Experience in furnace or oven electrical design is an advantage (training provided if required)
Effective communicator with the ability to liaise confidently at all levels and across internal departments, as well as with internal and external customers.
Able to work independently with minimal supervision and be a proactive, collaborative team player.
Flexible, hands-on approach to working within a project team or individually.
Commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritise effectively, and work within deadlines.
What we have to offer
Competitive Salary dependent on experience and qualifications.
37.50 Hours per week, Mon-Thurs 8.00 – 4.45 pm, Friday 8.00 -12.30 pm (Early finish on a Friday).
