Salary: London c£57,000 plus civil service employer pension contribution of 28%. A higher base salary may be available for exceptional applicants.
A minimum of 2 days a week based in the office is expected.
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
We are seeking a skilled HR Business Analyst to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the People team at the National Audit Office. This position is central to delivering our 2025–2030 strategy, which focuses on advancing digital and data maturity across the organisation.
As an HR Business Analyst, you will act as a bridge between HR, L&D, HR Technology, and People Business Partners, driving process improvements, enabling data-driven decision-making, and improving our People processes and People Analytics. You will work closely with members of the People Leadership team, leveraging analytics and process design to create efficiencies, improve employee experience, and provide actionable insights that support strategic workforce planning.

Responsibilities Process Documentation and Optimisation
Map, document, and analyse current‑state People business processes across the employee lifecycle, including talent acquisition, onboarding, performance management, learning and development, and employee experience
Identify process inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and gaps through data analysis and stakeholder consultation
Design and recommend future‑state processes that align with business goals and enhance operational efficiency
Develop process documentation, workflow diagrams, and standard operating procedures
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including IT, Finance, and business leaders to ensure alignment and integration of HR processes with broader organisational systems
Consult with HR business partners and stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into clear, actionable requirements
Partner with HR Technology team to evaluate and implement solutions that address business needs
People Analytics and Reporting
Perform People analytics using Power BI, Excel, and HRIS to generate insights on workforce trends, employee engagement, turnover, retention, diversity, productivity, and other key HR and L&D metrics
Design, build, and maintain interactive dashboards and visualisations in Power BI that enable self‑service analytics for HR, L&D and business leaders
Extract, manipulate, and analyse data from the People systems to support reporting and analytics needs
Create regular and ad‑hoc reports that provide tactical reporting, workforce planning insights, and strategic recommendations
Translate complex data findings into clear, compelling narratives that drive strategic decision‑making
Present findings and recommendations to People Team leadership and HR business partners, linking insights to specific business problems and articulating implications for action
Identify opportunities to leverage system functionality to improve data collection, process automation, and user experience
Foster a data‑driven culture by educating and empowering the People team and business leaders to leverage data in their decision‑making
Experience required
Relevant experience in HR analytics, business analysis, or related analytical role
Demonstrated experience with business process mapping, analysis, and improvement Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Human Resources, Business Administration, Data Analytics, Industrial/Organisational Psychology, Statistics, or related field
