Job Overview The Lead Cyber Security Architect reports to the Head of Cyber Security Architecture and is responsible for delivering the Security Architecture Plan, ensuring compliance with NIS regulations, and leading a team of up to four direct reports. The role requires UK Government Security Clearance and a demonstrable track record of building senior stakeholder relationships.
Responsibilities
Lead the delivery of the Security Architecture Plan and develop associated roadmaps.
Identify new security capabilities to support NIS compliance and transform them into cost‑effective security services.
Provide leadership, motivation, and task direction for security architecture domains including Data, Application, Identity and Access, AI, and Cloud.
Ensure alignment between security architecture frameworks and overall business strategy.
Collaborate with SPEN Procurement and Legal teams on sourcing strategy and procurement of required services.
Support the ‘Secure by Design’ process by ensuring security architecture is integrated at every project stage.
Create and maintain security design documents and architecture artefacts.
Guide Design Authorities with consistent security guidance.
Apply asset management and data security best practices in relation to NIS regulations.
Drive adoption of secure designs, patterns, and best practices.
Keep abreast of cyber‑threat intelligence and brief stakeholders with actionable information.
Contribute to security investment governance processes.
Qualifications
Proven experience managing relationships with senior stakeholders.
Information risk assessment, protective security, and understanding of OT threats.
Expertise in identifying, prioritising, and leading key security technology opportunities.
Strong knowledge of cyber risk assessment, analysis, and reporting in a business context.
Experience in enterprise, infrastructure, or application architecture.
Proficiency in defining and implementing security controls across multiple IT layers.
Leadership experience with team management and performance development.
Strong analytical skills to identify core issues and recommend solutions.
Recognised cyber security qualifications such as CISSP, CISM, NCSC CCP, M.Inst IISP, etc.
Recognised architecture qualifications such as SABSA, TOGAF, etc.
Ability to secure UK Government Security Clearance.
