About Maritech

Maritech is a precision machine shop serving aerospace, defense, and industrial clients. We are actively transforming our facility into a modern, automation-driven, software-connected manufacturing environment. We value integrity, innovation, and continuous improvement — and we thrive on solving complex machining challenges quickly, accurately, and repeatedly.

The Opportunity

We are hiring a highly skilled Manufacturing Engineer to help build the future state of our manufacturing operations. This is a hands-on engineering position.

Main requirements:

1. Provide expert CNC programming and machining process engineering

2. Help architect a next-generation manufacturing environment focused on automation, digital workflows, and operational efficiency

This role is ideal for someone who loves both machining AND systems engineering — someone who wants to take a traditional CNC shop and help evolve it into a highly automated, software-integrated, low-variation production system.

You'll work closely with ownership to evaluate and implement new technologies, streamline workflows, reduce human error, standardize machining processes, and create a factory that prioritizes:

  • automation
  • real-time data
  • digital work instructions
  • software-driven repeatability
  • reduced training time
  • maximum throughput and uptime

Key Responsibilities CNC Programming & Process Engineering

  • Program multi-axis CNC machines using CAM software (SolidCAM)
  • Develop optimized toolpaths, fixtures, and machining templates for repeatability
  • Troubleshoot machining issues and support operators on the shop floor
  • Create standardized setup sheets, tooling libraries, and machining procedures

Automation, Software & Digital Integration

  • Identify manual tasks that can be automated or reduced
  • Implement probing macros, in-process measurement, and digital inspection workflows
  • Integrate machines with monitoring software and data collection systems
  • Support development of software-driven routing, scheduling, and workflow automation
  • Assist with integrating sensors, scripts, macros, and digital communication tools
  • Help design a connected operation between ERP → CAM → Machine → QC → Shipping

Continuous Improvement & Operational Scaling

  • Analyze current processes and reduce bottlenecks
  • Lead lean/CI initiatives including 5S, SMED, kaizen events, and process mapping
  • Improve ERP data accuracy (JobBOSS) for routings, times, and material flows
  • Support capacity planning, factory layout improvements, and workflow optimization
  • Drive initiatives that reduce setup time, scrap, and variability
  • Support creation of scalable, repeatable systems as the company grows

Requirements

  • 3+ years of CNC programming and machining experience (3–5 axis preferred)
  • Strong proficiency in CAM (SolidCAM preferred, but others acceptable)
  • Excellent understanding of GD&T and aerospace-level tolerances
  • Experience driving process improvements or automation initiatives
  • Strong analytical skills and an interest in software-driven manufacturing
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (JobBOSS a plus)
  • Hands-on problem-solving ability and willingness to work on the production floor
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with machine monitoring (MTConnect, FANUC FOCAS, Alora, etc.)
  • Exposure to robotics, cobots, or automated part-handling systems
  • Experience writing macros or customizing probing cycles
  • Understanding of digital manufacturing workflows and Industry 4.0 principles
  • Experience improving setup reduction, tooling standardization, and process repeatability
  • Experience with Microsoft Power BI, Power Automate, and other digital workflow/analytics tools
  • Ability to train or mentor machinists and operators

Physical & Mental Requirements

  • Lift 50+ lbs. and maneuver throughout the facility
  • Strong visual and tactile inspection capability
  • Ability to read, speak, and write in English
  • Strong competency in math, fractions, and metrology

Benefits

  • 401(k) with matching
  • Health insurance
  • Paid time off
  • Relocation assistance (if applicable)
