Position Summary
The role is responsible for implementation, management, security and support of the SharePoint environment (both on-premises and Online) for the company's GPS channel. The System Engineer will work within the company's Cloud Framework to implement SharePoint updates and work with multiple company's internal engagement teams to gather technology requirements, define updated schedules, implement policies, standards, security, and establish best practices, while delivering technical expertise in SharePoint management to meet the engagement team expectations. Provide suggestions and recommendations for new technology solutions and automate reoccurring tasks using PowerShell and other scripting tools. Collaborate with Leadership and multiple departments delivering on major national Firm Information Technologies initiatives. May serve internal or external clients.
Responsibilities
- Administer and support SharePoint Subscription Edition / SharePoint Online environments.
- Perform daily monitoring, configuration, patching, and backup/restore of SharePoint farms and site collections.
- Manage site collections, permissions, and user access requests.
- Support end-users with SharePoint functionality, troubleshooting, and best practices.
- Work with business stakeholders to gather requirements for site structure, workflows, and content management.
- Ensure SharePoint environments are secure, compliant, and optimized for performance.
- Assist with migrations, upgrades, and integration projects (e.g., SharePoint to SharePoint Online or hybrid).
- Create and maintain technical documentation, procedures, and governance policies.
- Define standards and best practices by conducting POCs for new requests.
- Create, implement, and assist in the development of scripts to automate everyday operations
- Assist in system migrations and system upgrades to maintain environment on current Microsoft stack
- Serves as a subject matter expert on major IT environment upgrades, enhancements, new functionality, capacities, performance, cost effectiveness, and business integrations.
- Analyzes and resolves technology and end user incidents during standard business hours or on-call rotations; Monitors issue resolutions and collaborates with the engagement teams and engineers when necessary to resolve and apply fixes. identify root cause, document problems, and implement preventive measures.
- Assists with special projects and plans and executes on major milestones.
- Provides input and recommendations on new potential technology solutions based on research and analysis.
- Designs and implements infrastructure solutions to meet business and technical objectives.
- Maintains standard operations procedure documentation
- Ensures compliance with Software Testing Life-Cycle standard operating procedures and policies.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
- Participates in the on-call rotation providing 24x7 support.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in Information Technology supporting Windows environments
- 3–5 years of experience as a SharePoint Administrator or similar role and knowledge of the following:
- Hands-on experience with SharePoint Subscription Edition and/or SharePoint Online administration.
- Knowledge of SharePoint Designer, Power Automate, and InfoPath.
- Understanding of Active Directory, IIS, and SQL Server as they relate to SharePoint.
- Exposure to Entra ID (Azure AD) authentication and identity management.
- 1+ year PowerShell scripting for SharePoint management.
- Ability to travel 10%, on average, based on the work you do
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or similar and/or equivalent professional experience
- Experience with SharePoint migrations (on-premises to SharePoint Online or version upgrades) is a plus.
- Familiarity with Microsoft 365 services (Teams, OneDrive, Exchange Online) is a plus.
- Understanding of the Federal Government compliance requirements a plus.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present to and collaborate with business leaders
- Experience supporting or administering hybrid environments
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently as well as part of a team.
- Experience with information technology and enterprise architecture best practices
- Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
- May require a security clearance
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business Administration or equivalent educational or professional experience and/or qualifications. An advanced degree is also preferred.
