Accounting Manager

Salary: $75-85K/year

No job description for a position can possibly include all duties which may be requested by guests or required by the hotel. The objective of all positions is to effectively provide services personally or to promptly refer requests to the appropriate department manager. The following outlines the primary responsibilities of this role.

The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing hotel accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and providing financial analysis to support operational and strategic decision-making. This role combines hands-on accounting oversight with financial planning and analysis to help optimize overall hotel performance.

• Oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger activities
• Prepare timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with accounting standards and local regulations
• Ensure proper documentation and compliance with internal controls and accounting policies
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts and review journal entries for accuracy

• Perform variance analysis comparing actual results to budget, forecasts, and prior periods
• Assist with preparation of the annual budget and periodic forecasts
• Provide financial insights and recommendations to support operational and strategic decisions
• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and prepare financial reports for department leaders and senior management

• Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules and required documentation
• Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal policies
• Review and maintain internal controls to mitigate financial and operational risk

• Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and consistency
• Collaborate with hotel departments including operations, sales, and revenue management to optimize financial performance
• Serve as a financial liaison for reporting and cross-departmental initiatives

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 3–5 years of accounting or finance experience, preferably within the hospitality industry
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems (e.g., Sun, Opera, ADP or similar)
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
• Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and maintain confidentiality

• Experience in hotel or hospitality financial operations
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability
• Leadership skills with the ability to train and develop accounting staff
• Ability to present complex financial information in a clear and concise manner

• Full-time, onsite position based in Miami, FL
• May require occasional evening or weekend work to meet reporting deadlines or support hotel operations
