Rise Academy is excited to announce an opportunity to become our next: Athletics Coordinator
The Athletics Program Coordinator is responsible for overseeing all facets of Rise Academy's athletic programs, ensuring alignment with school values, compliance requirements, and operational excellence. This position provides leadership to coaching staff, coordinates athletic events and logistics, manages program communications, and cultivates a positive and inclusive athletics culture. The Athletics Program Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting student-athletes, promoting athletic achievement, and elevating the visibility of Rise Academy's programs.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Leadership & Supervision- Oversees, trains, and evaluates the work of all coaches.
- Acts as a neutral party during disputes among students, parents, and coaches.
- Coordinates professional development and credentialing for coaching staff.
- Establishes and enforces standardized coaching expectations and guardrails.
- Assumes head coaching responsibilities when coaching vacancies exist.
- Coordinates tryout schedules, practice locations, and athletic contest calendars among students, parents, coaches, and administrators.
- Secures and coordinates game officials for all athletic contests.
- Serves as the primary point of contact for athletic facility partnerships, transportation needs, and communication across athletic stakeholders.
- Ensures full compliance with the Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association (VISAA) for all teams.
- Maintains accurate and up-to-date MaxPreps accounts.
- Creates and maintains all standard athletic policies and practices, including the Athletic Ethics Contract.
- Maintains the official Rise Academy Athletic Handbook with detailed policies and procedures.
- Tracks expenses, manages budget spend-down, and oversees all athletic financial accounting.
- Coordinates and oversees ticket sales, fundraising efforts, and donor communications for affiliated teams.
- Orders and coordinates uniforms, travel gear, medical supplies, apparel, and other athletic equipment.
- Assesses, inventories, and manages all athletic equipment and uniforms.
- Responds promptly and professionally to inquiries from parents, staff, Rise Academy Board members, and community partners.
- Maintains relationships with college head coaches to support athletic placement opportunities for senior student-athletes.
- Coordinates with the Dean of Students regarding student behavior and academic progress.
- Works with the School Counselor to coordinate NCAA eligibility processes and documentation.
- Serves on the Rise Academy Admissions Team and leads athletic recruitment efforts.
- Uses technology and social media to promote Rise Athletics and communicate key updates.
- Plans, leads, and organizes all major athletic events, including the annual sports banquet, senior nights, and homecoming activities.
- Attends all home games, local events, and championship competitions for all athletic teams.
- Attends monthly faculty meetings and selected teacher welcome-back events.
- Leads the Athletics Committee and collaborates with school leadership on program development.
- Performs other athletic-related duties as assigned to support Rise Academy's mission and program needs.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Sports Management, Physical Education, or a related field
- At least 2 years of experience in sports coordination or related areas
- Previous experience in sports administration or coaching
- Understanding of athletic rules and regulations governed by VISAA
- Demonstrated leadership and team-management capabilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
Preferred:
- CPR/First Aid certification
- Medical Administration Training (MAT)
