JOB TITLE: Security Generalist (Must be 21 years of age or older.)

DEPARTMENT: Security

REPORTS TO: Security Manager 

SALARY: Grade 9

Range Starts: $21.94/hourly 

Range Ends: $32.90/hourly

CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt 

SUPERVISES: All Security Department team members during an assigned shift or event in the absence of the Security Supervisor.

JOB SUMMARY: This team member answers phones, dispatches guards, and transportation team members to calls for service, as well as department-to-department dispatching. This team member is responsible for supervising personnel to ensure the safety of guests and team members, while also protecting the physical assets of the Redding Rancheria and the Resort & Casino..  This team member is in charge of the entire building while on duty in matters of security, customer service, and safety.

THIS POSITION IS CLASSIFIED AS A REDDING RANCHERIA TRIBAL KEY EMPLOYEE

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

The essential duties and responsibilities outlined here are representative of those that must be met by the team member to successfully perform the essential functions of this position, however, are not all inclusive:   

  1. Handles all incoming phone calls, radio traffic, and dispatches guards to calls for service.
  2. Maintains accurate logs, files alphabetically, and keep files up to date.
  3. Provides assistance to all guests, vendors, and team members as needed.
  4. Follows proper instructions and guidelines during emergency situations, including the use of emergency equipment, first aid, alarms, lights, crowd control evacuation, etc.
  5. Makes hourly checks of buildings and grounds, as assigned, and checks maintenance records as indicated.
  6. Keeps accurate logs for visitor and vendor entries onto the property. 
  1. Assists and cooperates with all outside medical and/or law enforcement agencies.
  2. Directs the work of Security Department team members during an assigned shift.
  3. Responsible for addressing guest complaints and disputes, and resolving problems.
  4. Enforces departmental policies, procedures, and internal controls. 
  5. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Resort & Casino's policies and procedures.
  6. Uses strict confidentiality for all functions of job.
  7. Oversees all injuries and illnesses of team members and guests, and ensures proper response and action is taken as outlined in the Department Handbook. Offers assistance in filling out all necessary paperwork and forwards to Team Member Relations Department.
  8. Takes reports on complaints of harassment and immediately forwards all details to Security Manager and Director of Team Member Relations.
  9. Maintains a cordial and courteous attitude of self to subordinates, guests, team members, and management.
  10. Maintains the highest level of organizational values possible for all department team members.
  11. Instructs and ensures that all department team members understand and comply with the duties and responsibilities of each specific post.
  12. Contacts the Security Manager during an emergency or questionable situation.
  13. Responds to, and thoroughly investigates, reports from Surveillance.
  14. Maintains a high level of public relations to assure the public that they are secure while at Win-River Resort & Casino. 
  15. Secures information from witnesses and person(s) suspected of a crime.
  16. Makes independent decisions, with the best interest of the Organization in mind, while working.
  17. Analyzes situations accurately and develops effective courses of action.
  18. Promotes high levels of professionalism.
  19. Demonstrates powers of observation and memory as it relates to reporting and writing of reports.
  20. Performs all duties in a manner that continually supports the vision, mission, values, and principles of the Resort & Casino.
  21. Performs all duties in a manner that adheres to the guest service standards established by Win-River Resort & Casino's guest service program.
  22. Other duties as assigned by the Security Manager or Director of Security.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

The education requirements outlined here are representative of the minimum that must be met by the team member to successfully perform the essential functions of this position; however, higher levels of education than required will be reflected during the recruitment process:  

  • A High School diploma or the equivalent thereof, is required.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Public Administration or Criminal Justice is desired.

EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS

The experience and knowledge requirements outlined here are representative of the minimum that must be met by the team member to successfully perform the essential functions of this position; however, higher levels of experience and knowledge than required may be reflected during the recruitment process:  

  • Must be 21 years of age or older. 
  • Minimum of two (2) years security, military training, or police training, with one (1) year experience at a supervisory or management level is preferred.
  • Knowledge of basic principles and practices of law enforcement is required.
  • Knowledge of basic laws of arrest and rules of evidence is required.
  • The ability to write clear and comprehensive reports is required.
  • A valid California Driver's License and current insurance is required.
  • Must be eligible for approval to drive Win-River Resort & Casino vehicles.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain all certificates in First Aid, CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation), AED (Automated External Defibrillator), PATH (Practical and Tactical Handcuffing), MOAB (Management of Aggressive Behavior), and TIPS (Training Intervention Procedures).
  • Strong computer skills, concurrent with demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and online accounting systems is required.  
  • A strong understanding of the principles and practices of team member supervision, along with a strong combination of written and verbal communication skills to write, read, and comprehend written correspondence, concurrent with the ability to effectively communicate with guests and team members of the Resort & Casino is required.
  • Must act at all times within the scope of all policies and procedures of Win-River Resort & Casino.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The physical requirements outlined here are representative of those that must be met by the team member to successfully perform the essential functions of this job:  

  • Continuously walks.
  • Frequently stands, climbs, and reaches below shoulder level.
  • Occasionally sits, drives, bends/stoops, reaches above shoulder level, kneels, squats, and crawls.
  • Frequently lifts/carries up to ten (10) pounds is required.
  • Frequently pushes/pulls up to ten (10) pounds is required.
  • The physical ability to run, kick, knee strike, restrain aggressive person(s), apply holds in accordance to MOAB (Management of Aggressive Behavior) training, handcuff in accordance to PATH (Practical and Tactical Handcuffing) training, and subdue/physically control aggressive person(s), is required.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the team member is frequently exposed to second-hand tobacco smoke.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the team member is usually subject to inside environmental conditions.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the team member may occasionally be subject to outside environmental conditions and to wet and/or humid conditions.

  • This individual must be able to meet the suitability requirements of the Redding Rancheria's Gaming Agency to obtain a gaming license.
