Data Engineer, Senior – Vital CDM

Responsibilities:

• Implement features collaboratively with Product Managers and developers using Agile/Scrum methodology

• Build automated, scalable, and sustainable solutions minimizing defects and technical debt

• Evaluate current system architecture and create scalable solutions to improve uptime and responsiveness

• Drive end-to-end development for on-time delivery of high-quality, standards-compliant solutions

• Research, identify, analyze, and correct technical issues with claim transactions and provider data

• Resolve complex data issues and perform quality data checks

• Receive business requirements and create data mapping specifications

• Integrate client data into the product suite

• Maintain and optimize multiple complex databases

• Investigate and troubleshoot complex database applications and stability issues

• Ensure MSSQL databases are operational and provide valid, relevant data

• Guide efforts in database design, performance, and reliability

• Participate in code reviews involving database changes and communicate issues and risks

• Integrate new products and software packages ensuring data accuracy

• Optimize code for maximum scalability and maintainability

• Incorporate unit testing and regression testing for defect-free builds and releases

Requirements:

• BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent experience

• 6+ years experience with MSSQL Server and/or RDBMS using current technology

• 6+ years SQL optimization experience, including index strategies, normalization, plan analysis, recompilation, caching, buffering, and use of optimization tools such as SQL Server Extended Events

• 3+ years experience in high transaction OLTP environments with databases 4+ TB in size

• Solid understanding of data structures (XML/SGML/DTD/JSON) and JSON parsing/transformation in SQL Server

• Experience writing complex, efficient SQL stored procedures

• Deep knowledge of SQL Server internals including transactions, concurrency, file tables, security, transactional replication, indexing, backup/recovery, clustering, and high availability

• Familiarity with Git and branching strategies

• Experience creating or consuming REST APIs using C#, NodeJS, Python, or similar languages

• Familiarity with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB and Elasticsearch

• Desired knowledge of Azure cloud services

• Demonstrated experience implementing enterprise-scale, high volume, high availability systems

• Proven ability to deliver major critical projects

• Experience working in Agile and Scrum team environments

• Strong organization, communication, and consultative skills

• Ability to work with complex codebases developed by others

• Effective multitasking, judgment, and decision-making skills

• Positive, results-oriented attitude and enthusiasm for knowledge sharing
