What you'll do:

EMPACT-SPC is proud to be part of a Premier Crisis system being modeled throughout the country. Come join a team that is driving change. The Children's DCS Stabilization Crisis Therapist provides direct in-home, in-office and community based clinical therapeutic services and education services to families, youth and adults who are involved with the Child Protective Services system.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive, direct psychotherapy services to families, youths and adults who are currently involved with the Child Protective Services. This includes providing individual/family psychotherapy sessions to youth and/or families, collaborating with the youth, families and legal guardian on treatment goals, providing clinical assessment and proper diagnosis, providing risk assessments as needed, administering appropriate therapeutic interventions.
  • Coordinates services with EMPACT-SPC staff and other behavioral health agencies, Child Protective Services, police, court affiliated, and public agencies.
  • Provides and delivers assigned 40 hours of work per week. Evening and weekend hours may be required to accommodate the schedules of families. Attends meetings and trainings outside of regularly scheduled work hours as requested.
  • Ensures quality service delivery including clinical care and all associated documentation. Maintains all client records in accordance with agency policies and procedures. This includes appropriate intake documentation, endangerment triaging, diagnosis, treatment planning, and referral, progress, risk planning, termination documentation, and interagency reports.
  • Recommends to the Clinical Coordinator or Program Manager changes that would improve service delivery and for implementing changes and new programming as directed by the Clinical Coordinator or Program Manager. Selects and develops one specialized function related to the development of department services.
  • Provides comprehensive services to clients and assists the Clinical Coordinator or Program Manager in coordinating communication with other departments of the agency in accomplishing continuity of care.
  • Maintains valid Arizona driver license, appropriate liability insurance and approval for liability coverage with EMPACT's liability insurance carrier.
  • Provides and delivers assigned special projects during on-call shifts on weekly basis. Follow department special projects procedures for overnight special project calls. Includes providing mobile crisis assessment, intervention services, and in home support services to clients throughout Maricopa and surrounding counties.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Recommend to the Program Coordinator or Manager changes that would improve service delivery. Select and develop one specialized function related to the development of department services.
  • Provides instruction and training for interns, contract staff, and regular staff in his/her respective discipline as assigned by the Clinical Coordinator or Program Manager.
  • Attend meetings and trainings outside of regularly scheduled work hours upon request.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Develops and maintains effective working relationships with other CPS Stabilization/Rapid Response Team (RRT), mobile team staff, other departmental staff, and all related state, community mental health, and contracting organizations.
  • Participates in all regularly scheduled administrative, in-service and staff meetings.
  • Participates in standing and ad hoc committees and work groups as assigned by the Clinical Coordinator or Program Manager.
  • Adheres to the agency's policies and procedures. Complies with the agency's standard of care for service delivery. Assists with Quality Management, Quality Assurance, and Utilization Review.
  • Performs additional related duties as assigned by the Clinical Coordinator or Program Manager.
  • Maintains professional conduct consistent with ethical professional practice and the policies and procedures of the agency.
  • Participates in agency fund raising activities as requested by management.

What you'll provide:

  • Master's degree required in marriage and family therapy, counseling, psychology, social work, or directly related field.
  • Associate level licensure by AzBBHE preferred.
  • Experience working with children in Department of Child Safety care.
  • Knowledge of the RBHA children's system preferred.
  • Experience utilizing electronic health records system.
  • Demonstrated ability to remain calm in crisis situations, work independently and cooperatively, and recognize personal limitations.
  • Must represent agency in professional manner.
  • Able to problem solve at both department and agency level.
  • Able to become acting coordinator as needed.
  • Able to understand the needs of victims and their families, listen empathically, remain non-judgmental, empower victims to make positive choices, and relate positively to all persons regardless of age, race creed, gender, or sexual orientation.
  • A valid AZ Driver's License with no major infractions in past 39 months is required.
  • Bilingual - Spanish ability a plus.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older at time of employment.
