We are a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) that provides Article 16 and 28 clinic services at 8 locations across Suffolk County, New York. We are a multi-specialty healthcare provider caring for our community through Primary and Specialty Medical Care, Dental, Behavioral Health, Audiology, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Speech Language Pathology. About the Role:

As a Psychologist, you will play a critical role in assessing, diagnosing, and treating individuals experiencing a wide range of mental health issues. Your work will involve applying evidence-based psychological principles and therapeutic techniques to support clients in improving their emotional well-being and coping strategies. You will collaborate with clients to develop personalized treatment plans that address their unique psychological needs, including crisis intervention and behavior modification. This role requires a compassionate and ethical approach to care, ensuring confidentiality and fostering a safe environment for clients to explore their challenges. Ultimately, your efforts will contribute to enhancing the mental health and quality of life for individuals, families, and groups within the community.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree (PhD or PsyD) in Psychology from an accredited institution.
  • Valid state license to practice psychology within the United States.
  • Demonstrated experience in psychological assessment and mental health counseling.
  • Strong knowledge of ethical standards and legal regulations governing psychological practice.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with diverse client populations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Specialized training or certification in crisis intervention or trauma-informed care.
  • Experience working with diverse populations including children, families, and groups.
  • Familiarity with evidence-based therapeutic approaches such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) or dialectical behavior therapy (DBT).
  • Experience in academic or clinical research related to mental health.
  • Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems and telehealth platforms.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments and evaluations to identify mental health conditions and needs.
  • Provide individual, family, and group psychotherapy using various therapeutic modalities tailored to client requirements.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans focused on counseling, behavior modification, and crisis intervention.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate care and ensure holistic support for clients.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential client records, documenting progress and treatment outcomes.

Skills:

The required skills such as Counseling Psychology, Psychological Assessment, and Mental Health Counseling are essential for accurately diagnosing and treating clients' psychological conditions. Psychotherapy, Family Therapy, and Group Therapy skills enable the psychologist to deliver effective interventions tailored to individual and collective needs. Crisis Intervention skills are critical for managing acute mental health emergencies and providing immediate support. Behavior Modification techniques are applied to help clients develop healthier habits and coping mechanisms. Preferred skills like trauma-informed care and familiarity with evidence-based therapies enhance the psychologist's ability to provide comprehensive and culturally sensitive treatment, while proficiency with technology supports efficient documentation and remote client engagement.
