Wickiup Village Cabins Operations Manager
Location: Spearfish Canyon, South Dakota (near Lead, SD)
Season: April 15 – October 20
Pay: $40,000–$50,000 per year (individual) + $10,000 seasonal bonus. If you are married or have a significant other who would like to join you on-site, we're excited to offer them a hourly position performing cabin maintenance and/or cleaning opportunities.
Housing: Fully furnished on-site housing included (2 bed / 1 bath)
Schedule: To be determined. Approximately 40 hours per week, with two days off per week
About Wickiup Village
Nestled along the scenic Spearfish Creek in the heart of the Black Hills, Wickiup Village is a historic property with 20 cozy cabins and a charming camp store. Originally built in 1936, it remains a favorite destination for travelers exploring Spearfish Canyon and the surrounding outdoor adventures.
We're looking for a hands-on, organized, and personable manager (or management couple) to oversee daily operations, provide exceptional guest experiences, and maintain the beauty and efficiency of our property throughout the season.
Key Responsibilities
Guest Services
- Provide friendly, helpful, and professional service to every guest.
- Manage reservations, check-ins, and check-outs using campground software (WebRezPro).
- Handle questions, requests, and guest issues with patience and care.
- Foster a welcoming, community-oriented environment for visitors.
- Assist in organizing and supporting on-site guest events or group gatherings.
Business Operations
- Oversee daily operations to meet occupancy and revenue goals.
- Maintain accurate financial records for reservations, cash, and credit transactions.
- Recommend cost-saving ideas and income-generating opportunities.
- Monitor inventory and restock camp store items as needed.
Maintenance & Property Care
- Oversee maintenance of cabins, common areas, and landscaping.
- Identify and schedule needed repairs or improvements.
- Perform or coordinate light repairs, groundskeeping, and upkeep.
- Conduct regular inspections to ensure all cabins and facilities meet standards.
- Ensure safety and security throughout the property.
Staff Oversight
- Supervise a small team, including camp hosts, housekeeping, and maintenance support.
- Provide clear direction, training, and support to ensure efficient operations.
- Create staff schedules and ensure adequate coverage for all areas.
- Step in as needed to assist team members during busy times.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of hospitality or property management experience.
- Preferred - minimum 3 years of business or operations management experience.
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Experience managing a small team.
- Proficient in computer use (Word, Excel, email, POS, and reservation systems such as WebRezPro).
- Excellent customer service and problem-solving abilities.
- Comfortable with physical work and outdoor conditions.
