This position is essential to the daily functioning of the Nebraska Board of Parole and supports multiple statutory and operational responsibilities. Job Duties: Creation of Parole Certificates & accompanying legal documentation. Attendance and documentation of all Parole Hearings & Review of Parole Hearings. Data Entry and Management in NICaMS and C1/C2 Systems. Coordination With NDCS Records and Reentry Staff. Management of Individuals Granted Parole but Pending Release. Other duties as assigned and within the scope of the classification.

Requirements / Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:  Coursework/training or experience related to research, presentation, or publication in an area related to the programs or functions of the employing agency; business administration; accounting; customer service; and/ or technical support work, including use of computer software such as word processing, spreadsheets, and database management. 

Preferred Qualifications:   Experience working in a criminal justice, corrections, or parole-related setting, including familiarity with hearing processes, release procedures, or offender records.  Prior experience with NDCS systems, including NICaMS, C1/C2, or comparable case-management or records databases. Proven track record of managing high-volume, time-sensitive administrative work with minimal error.  Experience collaborating with multiple agencies or departments, ideally within state government or criminal justice systems. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and digital file-management systems.  Strong interpersonal communication skills, especially when working across agencies (e.g., NDCS Records, Reentry, facility staff). Experience handling confidential or sensitive information in compliance with privacy and data security guidelines.  Demonstrated ability to work as part of a small, highly collaborative team with shifting priorities and shared responsibilities. Experience using digital audio or video recording systems for official record keeping.  Experience working directly with incarcerated or justice-involved individuals, demonstrating professionalism and impartiality.

Other : This position requires travel. As such, the incumbent must be able to present a valid driver's license or another form of reliable transportation. Regular and reliable attendance required.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

Knowledge: Knowledge of criminal justice processes, including parole procedures, release requirements, detainers, and legal documentation related to corrections and community supervision.  Understanding of NDCS and Nebraska Board of Parole operational policies, hearing processes, and workflow protocols. Knowledge of data systems such as NICaMS, C1/C2, and internal records databases, including the importance of proper data validation and entry. Familiarity with legal terminology, case documentation, and administrative record keeping to ensure accurate preparation of parole certificates and supporting documents. Understanding of confidentiality, privacy regulations, and public records laws, ensuring all information is handled appropriately and securely.

Skills: Exceptional attention to detail to ensure accuracy in legal documentation, hearing records, and database entry. Strong time-management and organizational skills to manage frequent deadlines, shifting priorities, and multiple tasks simultaneously. High-level multitasking skills, especially during live hearings, where recording, note-taking, and follow-up documentation occur in real time. Effective written and verbal communication skills, enabling clear collaboration with NDCS Records, Reentry, community partners, and Parole Board members. Technical proficiency with data systems, digital recording tools, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), and document management platforms. Problem-solving skills to navigate complex release issues, identify missing information, and proactively communicate solutions with NDCS staff.

Abilities: Ability to prioritize work effectively in a fast-paced environment where urgent matters arise frequently and impact public safety. Ability to maintain composure and professionalism during hearings, including sensitive cases and high-stress situations. Ability to interpret and apply policies, statutes, and procedural requirements to ensure compliance in all documentation and parole actions. Ability to adapt quickly to schedule changes, emergent situations, or evolving operational needs while maintaining accuracy. Ability to work independently and as part of a small team, demonstrating reliability, initiative, and accountability. Ability to safeguard confidential and sensitive information and exercise sound judgment at all times.
