Aerospace is at a turning point — costs are rising, supply chains are strained, and old ways of building can't keep up. At Neon Aero, we're breaking that mold. We move fast, think big, and combine start-up agility with aerospace expertise to design, build, and scale aircraft in ways the industry has never seen. Our team leverages automation, AI-driven tools, and a fully connected digital backbone to accelerate innovation and reduce barriers to production.

Here, you won't just take a job — you'll help reinvent how the world flies. If you're ready to solve complex problems, push technology further, and work alongside some of the brightest minds in aerospace, this is your chance to make a real impact.

The Digital Engineering Applications Engineer designs, builds, and sustains internal applications, services, and automations that remove friction from engineering and operational workflows. You own full stack solutions end to end, from discovery and roadmap through deployment and sustainment, ensuring tools are scalable, secure, compliant, and aligned to Neon's digital thread strategy.

In regulated environments, you apply aerospace software best practices and support compliance activities as needed, including DO178C-aligned processes and DO330 tool qualification work. As a staff-level leader, you mentor engineers, set development standards, and drive cross-functional alignment on prioritization, architecture, and long-term product health.

Why this Role Matters:
  • Build internal applications, services, and automation to streamline engineering and operations.
  • Own internal products end to end (roadmap, build, deploy, and sustain).
  • Enable traceability across the digital engineering toolchain.
  • Deliver APIs, data layers, and UI experiences aligned with Neon standards.
  • Ensure reliability, performance, and security with IT.
  • Provide staff-level technical direction for internal applications.
  • Mentor engineers and drive best practices across Digital Engineering.
What you'll Bring:
  • Bachelor's or Master's in computer science, software engineering, systems engineering, or a related technical field; equivalent professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Minimum of 7 years of professional software engineering experience delivering production systems.
  • Strong full stack proficiency with modern web and service development.
  • Proficiency in TypeScript or Javascript, React, , and Python.
  • Working knowledge of at least one additional enterprise language such as Java or C#.
  • Experience building and consuming REST APIs and GraphQL services.
  • Hands-on experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Comfort working with both relational and non-relational databases (SQL and NoSQL).
  • Experience with microservices architectures and distributed systems fundamentals.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Background supporting regulated aerospace projects subject to DO178C, ARP4754A, and/or DO330 preferred.
  • Experience building internal developer platforms, engineering productivity tools, or workflow automation in a fast-paced environment preferred.
  • Demonstrated success automating manual processes into reliable, scalable software solutions preferred.
  • Familiarity integrating with enterprise PLM, ALM, and MBSE toolchains, especially using OSLC
  • Exposure to/experience with ML-enabled internal tools or AI-assisted engineering workflows preferred.
  • Knowledge of security and compliance frameworks relevant to aerospace (ITAR, CMMC, ISO preferred.
Why Join Us:
  • Work alongside elite engineering talent and innovators from across aerospace and tech.
  • Build the digital backbone of a Tier-1 aerospace company from the ground up.
  • Lead the integration of data, AI, and engineering tools into a seamless digital ecosystem.
