Description:
The Emergency Room Technician functions under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse. He/she provides non-licensed direct patient care to neonate through geriatric patients. He/she assists the healthcare team by providing personal assistance to patients by caring for the patient, equipment and supplies and also by providing clerical and nursing care support services.1. • Performs venipuncture for specimen collection: - Utilizes techniques to insure patients do no develop unnecessary hematomas and bruising, ie, direct entering of vein, direct pressure for appropriate length of time, etc.- Obtains lab specimens timely and processes specimens to the lab- Ensures proper labeling of specimen
• Collects lab specimens and cultures according to nursing practice standards i.e. (sputum, stool, urine, wound). Ensures proper labeling of specimens.

• Assists with patient admission and discharge, and gives assistance to patients to their vehicles.
