We are seeking an experienced Data Architect to help enhance and optimize our mission-critical systems through data analysis, design, development, and implementation of technical data solutions. We are looking for a proven leader with demonstrated success in consuming complex data and developing innovative solutions.
Primary duties include design and development of data infrastructure to extract and organize data across internal and external enterprise systems utilizing tools such as Denodo or Talend. Time will be split with software design and development using various products and technologies in a full-stack role. Other duties may include data and code optimization, business process analysis, architecture and design. You will use critical thinking to help maintain production operations, conduct system troubleshooting and perform problem analysis. You will work closely with project stakeholders to scope, estimate, and provide overall technical leadership to develop and implement high-quality technology solutions.
Additional duties may include collaboration with external stakeholders across the Nuclear Security Enterprise, developing technical documentation and instructions.
Core Responsibilities and Duties
- Developing data infrastructure to support application development.
o Identifying relevant data.
o Designing data structures.
o Sourcing data (including all aspects of ETL: extract, transform, load).
o Creating data summarizations such as reports, dashboards, and metrics.
o Performing advanced data analysis to identify trends and forecast future events. This may include techniques such as machine learning.
o Advancing our team's data utilization capability to enhance business value delivered.
- Work closely with functional and business team members, project management, enterprise architects, system engineers and application developers to design and develop mission-critical applications based on approved architecture and business requirements.
o Design and implement innovative solutions to resolve complex Information Technology (IT) and business problems.
o Lead technical projects through effective communication with peers, customers and management.
o Ensure solutions are well-engineered, optimized, operable, and maintainable.
o Ensure adherence to defined project management policies, changes management guidelines, cyber security requirements and software quality assurance processes.
o Interface with IT Project Management to deliver solutions on schedule, with high quality, and within budget.

- Bachelor's degree in engineering/science/information technology discipline.
- OR Master's degree in engineering/science/information technology discipline.
- OR Applicants without a bachelor's degree may be considered based on a combination of at least 8 years of completed education and/or relevant experience.

- Bachelor or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Business Analytics, or similar degree with at least 5 years of relevant progressive experience.
- Demonstrated experience using tools such as Excel, Tableau and programming languages (such as SQL, Python and R) to perform analytics.
- Knowledge of databases, data warehouses, business intelligence systems and data analysis tools
- Knowledge of Artificial Intelligence systems.
- Knowledge required to perform data analytics that includes statistics, decision sciences, machine learning, reporting technologies and/or predictive analysis.

Requires a Q clearance; however all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance is required.
Position may require entry into Materials Access Areas (MAA) and participation in the Human Reliability Program (HRP). If HRP is required, candidate must complete a counterintelligence-scope polygraph, pursuant to 10CFR 709. Medical requirements may apply.
