The HVAC Facilities Specialist will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations and maintenance of the facility, utilities, and equipment at the New Horizon site. This role ensures that the manufacturing site operates smoothly, efficiently, and safely, maintaining compliance with all regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills, a proactive attitude, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of operational excellence.
Principal Duties/Responsibilities:
· Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance of the facility HVAC systems to ensure optimal functioning and appearance.
· Participate in a rotational on call status 24/7 to ensure facility operation readiness for critical manufacturing processes.
· Coordinate with external contractors for specialized maintenance and repair work of gas-powered humidifier, generator, electrical, and plumbing systems.
· Monitor and maintain the Cartesian Building Management System (BMS) to ensure continuous and reliable operations.
· Perform work orders in-house or coordinate with the appropriate vendors.
· Troubleshoot and resolve any utility-related issues in a timely manner.
· Coordinate regular maintenance and calibration of manufacturing equipment to ensure accurate and efficient operation.
· Diagnose and repair equipment malfunctions, minimizing downtime and ensuring production schedules are met.
· Maintain an inventory of spare parts and tools necessary for equipment maintenance and repair.
· Ensure all facility operations comply with relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.
· Conduct regular safety inspections and audits, addressing any identified hazards or compliance issues.
· Maintain and upload accurate documentation for all maintenance, repair, and calibration activities within a CMMS and or Calibration Software program.
· Assist with the setup and maintenance of laboratory and production spaces.
· Support the implementation of facility upgrades and modifications as needed.
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support manufacturing operations and projects.
· Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
· Minimum of 4-6 years of experience in HVAC facilities maintenance or a related role, preferably in a biotech or manufacturing environment.
· Strong knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
· Proven experience with equipment maintenance and repair.
· Familiarity with regulatory requirements and safety standards in a manufacturing setting.
· Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
· Proficiency in using maintenance management software and tools.
Work Environment:
The position requires hands-on work setting up and operating equipment in R&D and manufacturing environments. An employee in this position works in an environment in which safety, environmental and health concerns may demand constant attention. Strict adherence to Cartesian's policies, rules and regulations is required. While performing the duties of this job, the employee handles hazardous chemicals in the laboratory. The employee will be required to wear all appropriate safety equipment including but not limited to eye protection, gloves, shoes, and lab coat. Position may require extended periods of standing.
Salary Notice
At Cartesian Therapeutics, Inc., we are committed to transparency and equity in our compensation practices. The salary range for this position is $75,000 to $92,000 per year. Please note that the final salary will be determined based on several factors, including, but not limited to, years of experience, industry experience, education, and specific skills relevant to the role.
