Overview
The Regional Quality Manager is responsible for leading quality management, assurance, and control programs across multiple projects and locations within the assigned region. This role ensures that company-wide quality standards, regulatory requirements, and client expectations are consistently met or exceeded. As a strategic partner to operations leadership, the Regional Quality Manager drives continuous improvement, oversees internal and external audits, and fosters a culture of quality excellence throughout the region.
This role will help Sure Steel by ensuring project delivery is aligned with our quality goals—reducing rework, improving client satisfaction, and maintaining compliance with industry standards. The Regional Quality Manager directly supports the operational excellence that sets Sure Steel apart in the structural steel industry.
QualificationsKey Responsibilities
1. Quality Leadership & Oversight
- Lead and coordinate all QA/QC activities across projects and facilities in the assigned region.
- Ensure compliance with company standards, contract requirements, and applicable codes (e.g., AISC, ASTM, OSHA).
- Act as the primary regional contact for quality-related issues, client concerns, and third-party audits.
- Collaborate with Preconstruction, Project Management, and Construction teams to identify quality risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Review project drawings, specifications, and scope to prepare Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and supporting documentation.
- Implement and manage regional audit programs (internal, supplier, third-party support).
- Analyze audit findings, drive corrective actions, and validate resolution effectiveness.
- Maintain audit records for internal reporting and client requirements.
- Identify inefficiencies and risks in construction and fabrication processes.
- Lead Lean, Six Sigma, and other process improvement efforts.
- Align regional practices with corporate quality procedures and documentation standards.
- Oversee and deliver regional training programs focused on quality standards, inspection practices, and root cause analysis.
- Mentor project quality personnel and site supervisors.
- Collaborate with Learning & Development to align training with corporate goals.
- Partner with project managers, engineers, and field leadership to embed quality into project planning, execution, and closeout.
- Communicate effectively with clients, vendors, and regulatory bodies to address and resolve quality issues.
- Analyze quality performance data and trends to drive regional improvement strategies.
- Provide senior leadership with regular performance updates and improvement recommendations.
- Share and implement best practices across all regional projects and teams.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5–7 years of progressive QA/QC experience, including multi-site or regional leadership roles.
- Strong knowledge of steel erection practices, building envelope solutions, and related construction codes and standards.
- Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or DMAIC methodologies.
- ASQ CQA or CMQ/OE certification preferred.
- Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification preferred.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Proficiency in quality management systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- 50% travel required.
