Exploration Geologist

Basic Function:

Collect, compile, report, and archive data. Analyse geologic and analytical data to identify mineralized and target areas for future drilling. Monitor exploration drilling to ensure quality of samples and accuracy of targeting. Oversee QAQC program for data collection including grab sample assays. Liaise with engineering and other site team members. Use Trimble survey equipment to lay out and collect collar data. Oversee core and onsite lab technicians.

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Must demonstrate the ability to perform all aspects of daily tasks and assignments in a safe and professional manner.

· Must be familiar with the use and administration of 30CFR (MSHA Code of Federal regulations) as it pertains to daily tasks.

· Assuring the quality control and quality assurance of samples.

· Monitoring and evaluating geological and assay data quality.

· Ensuring geological data is collected to specified standards and QA/QC protocol and drill logs are error free and validated.

· Complete field visits to drill sites to check drill site locations and ensure drill and exploration programs are conducted to high standards and samples are transported to the assay lab efficiently.

· Oversee the organization of the core library as well as pulp and rejects storage.

· Maintain good housekeeping at all times.

· Monitor the work and performance of core and onsite lab technicians.

· Field mapping and grab sample collection: collecting grab samples as well as identify and document significant features in the field including within historic pits.

· Other duties which may be deemed necessary by the supervisor.

Skills and Qualifications:

· Bachelor's degree in Geology or related field.

· Minimum of 3 years' experience in exploration/mining industry, preferably in gold.

· Strong knowledge of modelling software, GIS systems, and MS Office products. Strong knowledge of database software is an asset.

· Surveying and assay sample preparation experience.

· Excellent planning and organizational skills; self-motivated, team oriented.

· Possess or be able to obtain an FAA Drone License.

· Resource modelling experience is an asset.

· Proven commitment to safety, health, and environmental best practises.

Physical Demands:

To be eligible for this position, an individual must possess the following requirements to perform the essential job functions:

· Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking on uneven surfaces, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motion.

· Able to operate a telephone and mine phone/radio with sufficient voice and hearing to carry on a conversation for the purpose of communicating information.

· Able to hear sufficiently to distinguish various pitches of warning alarms.

· Able to lift up to 50 pounds periodically.

· Must possess a valid Driver's license and be able to operate a light vehicle.

· Must have means to transport self to and from the operation.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80, $95,000.00 per year
