Compensation:
$90,000 – $120,000 annually
Position Overview
The HR Generalist will support the day-to-day people operations of a private family office, providing hands-on HR support across multiple affiliated entities. This role is ideal for an HR professional who values discretion, relationship-building, and operational excellence in a small, high-trust environment.
The HR Generalist will serve as a trusted internal resource for employees and leadership, managing core HR functions including onboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, compliance, and HR operations. This is an onsite role requiring a proactive, detail-oriented professional who is comfortable balancing structure with flexibility.
Key Responsibilities
Human Resources Operations
- Manage employee onboarding and offboarding processes, including documentation, orientation, and systems setup
- Maintain accurate employee records, personnel files, and HR documentation
- Support day-to-day HR inquiries related to policies, benefits, and employment practices
Employee Relations & Support
- Serve as a first point of contact for employee questions and concerns
- Assist leadership with employee relations matters, performance issues, and workplace concerns
- Foster a positive, respectful, and professional workplace culture
Benefits & Payroll Support
- Administer employee benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, and retirement plans
- Coordinate with benefits brokers and payroll providers
- Assist with payroll processing, audits, and reconciliation as needed
Compliance & Policy Management
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
- Maintain employee handbook and HR policies; support updates as needed
- Assist with training related to compliance, safety, and workplace best practices
Recruiting & Talent Support
- Support hiring efforts, including job postings, interview coordination, and offer documentation
- Partner with leadership to ensure a smooth and professional candidate experience
HR Projects & Process Improvement
- Assist with HR-related projects, systems implementation, and process improvements
- Help develop scalable HR practices as the organization evolves
Qualifications & Experience
- 1–5+ years of experience in an HR Generalist or similar HR role
- Experience supporting small organizations, family offices, or private companies preferred
- Strong knowledge of HR operations, employee relations, and employment compliance
- Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail
- High level of discretion and professionalism when handling sensitive information
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Proficiency with HRIS systems, payroll platforms, and Microsoft Office / Google Workspace
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
Preferred Qualifications
- HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP) a plus
- Experience with California employment law
- Comfortable working in an onsite, relationship-driven environment
