HR Generalist – Family Office

Location:
San Clemente, CA

Schedule:
Full-Time, Onsite

Compensation:
$90,000 – $120,000 annually

Position Overview

The HR Generalist will support the day-to-day people operations of a private family office, providing hands-on HR support across multiple affiliated entities. This role is ideal for an HR professional who values discretion, relationship-building, and operational excellence in a small, high-trust environment.

The HR Generalist will serve as a trusted internal resource for employees and leadership, managing core HR functions including onboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, compliance, and HR operations. This is an onsite role requiring a proactive, detail-oriented professional who is comfortable balancing structure with flexibility.

Key Responsibilities

Human Resources Operations

  • Manage employee onboarding and offboarding processes, including documentation, orientation, and systems setup
  • Maintain accurate employee records, personnel files, and HR documentation
  • Support day-to-day HR inquiries related to policies, benefits, and employment practices

Employee Relations & Support

  • Serve as a first point of contact for employee questions and concerns
  • Assist leadership with employee relations matters, performance issues, and workplace concerns
  • Foster a positive, respectful, and professional workplace culture

Benefits & Payroll Support

  • Administer employee benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, and retirement plans
  • Coordinate with benefits brokers and payroll providers
  • Assist with payroll processing, audits, and reconciliation as needed

Compliance & Policy Management

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
  • Maintain employee handbook and HR policies; support updates as needed
  • Assist with training related to compliance, safety, and workplace best practices

Recruiting & Talent Support

  • Support hiring efforts, including job postings, interview coordination, and offer documentation
  • Partner with leadership to ensure a smooth and professional candidate experience

HR Projects & Process Improvement

  • Assist with HR-related projects, systems implementation, and process improvements
  • Help develop scalable HR practices as the organization evolves

Qualifications & Experience

  • 1–5+ years of experience in an HR Generalist or similar HR role
  • Experience supporting small organizations, family offices, or private companies preferred
  • Strong knowledge of HR operations, employee relations, and employment compliance
  • Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail
  • High level of discretion and professionalism when handling sensitive information
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficiency with HRIS systems, payroll platforms, and Microsoft Office / Google Workspace
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities

Preferred Qualifications

  • HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP) a plus
  • Experience with California employment law
  • Comfortable working in an onsite, relationship-driven environment
