POSITION SUMMARY:

The Graphic Designer is responsible for the design of designated local and national advertising materials including but not limited to direct mail, point-of-purchase merchandising materials, print collateral, promotional/ad specialty items, outdoor advertising and digital marketing.

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Steward of the brand by upholding designated style guidelines and established quality standards.

  • Work directly with the Brand Marketing Department, BBQ Holdings Field Marketing and individual franchisee owners in the development and design of sales building marketing materials.

  • Designs and illustrates layouts for direct mail, Local Store Marketing, quarterly marketing kits, point-of-sale, digital marketing and the like.

  • Delivers all projects on time and on message with a high level of design and attention to detail.

  • Upholds a positive attitude in a fast-paced, highly-retail environment with multiple rounds of changes, short deadlines and high expectations.

  • Prepares approved designs for production.

  • Responsible for confirming production requirements with internal Print Producer and vendors and uploading correct marketing materials to the appropriate vendor partners.

  • Works with internal Print Producer and outside printers to ensure completion of projects.

  • Collaborates with fellow graphic designers daily in the development of marketing materials.

  • Responsible for maintaining graphic files in appropriate marketing databases.

  • Creates ad templates when necessary for use in Local Store Marketing.

  • Works closely with other BBQ Holdings departments on designated communication projects.

  • Regularly maintains and updates graphics archives, specifically archiving each job according to the BBQ Holdings Studio filing system.

  • Works closely with outside advertising agencies and approved vendors to supply appropriate art files (i.e. product photography, logos).

  • Contributes to ongoing updates to the published brand standards.

  • Ensures all mandatories are included in designed advertising based on brief.

  • Ensures all procedures for completing projects are finished by working with Studio Manager and Coordinator, making sure all items are trafficked, proofread and archived properly.

  • Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

Education:

  • 5+ years graphic/production related work at an ad agency or graphic design firm.

  • Bachelor's Degree from four-year college preferred.

Experience:

  • Must be able to translate client's thoughts and ideas from art requests into visual communications that adhere to brand standards; as well as, informs consumers and sells a product/brand concept.

  • Professional experience producing and preparing press-ready electronic artwork files.

  • Knowledge of producing Press Quality PDF.

  • Able to easily adapt to change.

  • Detail oriented; exceptional organizational skills.

  • Proven ability to solve problems and make good decisions driven by high-quality design in a fast-paced, retail-oriented environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate within a design team while able to take initiative and manage your own projects.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Customer service oriented.

  • Maintain and develop positive relationships with external vendors and BBQ Holdings staff.

Skills/Competencies/Certifications:

  • Requires strong working knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite - CS5 (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Acrobat), Microsoft Office products and web browsing.

  • Working knowledge of Flash, Dreamweaver and HTML preferred.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

When performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to move throughout the workplace; sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; balance, stoop, kneel and verbally communicate. The employee is occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
