Duties

  • Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans that foster cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development in preschool-aged children.
  • Create a warm and welcoming classroom atmosphere that encourages exploration, creativity, and positive interactions among children.
  • Supervise daily activities including playtime, circle time, arts and crafts, storytime, and outdoor activities to promote active learning.
  • Monitor and assess each child's developmental progress, tailoring activities to meet individual needs and abilities.
  • Maintain a safe environment by adhering to health and safety regulations, including first aid procedures when necessary.
  • Communicate regularly with parents or guardians about their child's progress, behavior, and any concerns that arise.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to plan curriculum enhancements and participate in ongoing professional development related to early childhood education.
  • Manage classroom behavior through positive reinforcement strategies and effective behavior management techniques.
  • Support children with special needs or disabilities by implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) in collaboration with specialists.
  • Ensure compliance with licensing standards for daycare centers and preschool programs.

Experience

  • Proven experience working with children in a preschool or daycare setting is essential; previous roles such as nannying or babysitting are valuable assets.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of childhood development principles and best practices in early childhood education.
  • Experience managing classroom environments with strong classroom management skills.
  • Familiarity with special education needs and working with children with disabilities is highly desirable.
  • Certification in first aid and CPR is required; additional certifications such as early childhood education credentials or infant/toddler care are preferred.
  • Background in behavior management techniques to support positive social interactions among young children.
  • Prior experience caring for infants, toddlers, or preschoolers through daycare or nanny roles enhances your suitability for this position.
