HVAC Field Technician

Seeking an HVAC Tech with a proven track record of excellence. Responsible for a heavy amount of troubleshooting ON COMMERCIAL UNITS, repairing, and installation of HVAC equipment such as compressors, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, HVAC units, and conduit systems; locating and diagnosing trouble in the HVAC system or equipment, working standard computations relating to load requirements of wiring or electrical equipment. Responsible for repairs on air quality systems from installation to end-of-life by performing maintenance, warranty, and emergency repairs. This job operates in both warehouse and remote (outside) environments.

Job duties

• Installing, maintaining, and repairing ventilation and air conditioning systems and equipment.
• Identifying maintenance risks on equipment.
• Diagnosing electrical and mechanical faults for HVAC systems.
• Performing emergency repairs promptly and efficiently.
• Providing technical direction and on-the-job training.
• Keeping daily logs and records of all maintenance functions.
• Ensuring compliance with appliance standards and with Cal OSHA.
• Complying with service standards, work instructions and customers requirements.
• Perform preventative maintenance.
• Electrical assembly and wire installation.
• Work from blueprints, drawings, layouts, or other specifications.
• Use of appropriate PPE when in the work environment.
• Updates to be submitted to the Admin Department daily.
• Work closely with Supervisor on status of each job.
• Ability to work OT as needed.
• Availability for Emergency Response/On Call on a rotating basis.
• Comply with all established general and industrial safety rules and regulations as applicable to the contract, facility, and job assignment.
• Cross train on electrical and other areas as needed.

Minimum qualifications

• EPA Certification
• High school diploma, GED or equivalent
• 3+ years experience as an HVAC technician (School does not count).
• Understanding of advanced principles of air conditioning, refrigeration, and heating.
• STRONG TROUBLESHOOTING EXPERIENCE.
• A fast worker in a fast paced environment.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to read schematics and work plans.
• Ability to work in confined spaces.
• Company will run a background check, a motor vehicle report and drug test.

Physical requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the Field Tech frequently is required to stand (sometimes for extended periods); walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms and lift up to 40 lbs. The Field Tech may, at times, sit, bend, stoop, squat, reach overhead, or crawl (may be in confined spaces). The team member is expected to perform repetitive tasks using their hands and have the ability to climb ladders.
