Job Posting: Environmental Services Technician (Full-Time)

Location: Select Specialty Hospital – Durham
Schedule(s): Both Full-Time

Mon - Fri: 5 days a week - 7:00 am to 3:00 pm & 3:00 pm to 11:00 pm

Sat - Sun: 2 days a week - 7:00 am to 3:00 pm & 3:00 pm to 11:00 pm

Pay: $15/hour

Position Overview

We are hiring dependable Environmental Services Technicians to maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary environment throughout patient-care, public, and administrative areas of the hospital. This role is essential to infection prevention and overall patient experience.

Key ResponsibilitiesPatient Care Areas (Patient Rooms & Restrooms)

• Clean and disinfect patient rooms daily, with attention to high-touch surfaces (bed rails, tables, switches, handles, call buttons).
• Clean and disinfect patient and public restrooms, including fixtures, counters, and dispensers.
• Remove general trash, medical waste, and soiled linens to designated locations.
• Restock soap, paper towels, and toilet tissue.
• Perform daily floor care using approved neutral pH cleaners.
• Complete terminal cleans after patient discharge, ensuring all surfaces and furniture are fully disinfected from high to low.

Ancillary & Public Areas (Breakrooms, Hallways, Lobbies)

• Clean and disinfect breakroom surfaces such as tables, counters, and appliance exteriors.
• Remove trash and maintain daily floor cleanliness.
• Operate an automated floor scrubber nightly to maintain hallways and main corridors.
• Spot mop spills or soiled areas as needed.

Administrative Areas (Offices)

• Remove trash and recycling daily.
• Wipe down desks, counters, and high-touch office surfaces.
• Perform floor care (dust and damp mopping) three times per week on hard-surface laminate floors.

Qualifications

• Experience in environmental services, janitorial work, or custodial roles preferred (healthcare experience a plus).
• Ability to lift 30–40 lbs and stand/walk for extended periods.
• Reliability, attention to detail, and adherence to safety and infection-control standards.
• Ability to pass hospital onboarding and background requirements.
