Job Summary:

Create a positive and engaging learning environment for students. Plan and deliver age-appropriate lessons, while fostering the development of students' social, emotional, and cognitive skills. Assess student progress, provide individualized support, and collaborate with colleagues and parents to ensure each child's academic and personal growth.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Pennsylvania teacher's license preferred
  • Proven experience as a teacher.
  • Thorough knowledge of teaching best practices.
  • Excellent verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Capacity and desire to differentiate instruction for all students.
  • Computer literacy, experience using G-Suite, comfortable learning the school's existing digital tools (mycomday, schoolpass, DOJO, Clever, Goguardian, Lexia, Math in Focus, Zoom…)

Working Conditions:

40+ hours per week during the school year. Attendance is required at after school meetings and events with advance notice.

Working with young children often entails close contact and exposure to diseases and infections, such as colds and influenza as well as exposure to loud sounds and high noise levels.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to:

  • This position requires minimal travel for occasional meetings, training, or events..
  • Perform moderate lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • See, hear, talk and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity and visual acuity; kneel, sit, stand, walk, crouch, stoop, reach, pull, push and other similar, repetitive tasks requiring physical activity.
  • Must be able to work indoors and outdoors on a regular basis.

Instruction and Lesson Planning:

· Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans and activities aligned with curriculum standards

· Use a variety of teaching methods, such as direct instruction, group work, hands-on activities, and technology integration, to engage students.

· Adapt lessons for students with different learning styles, needs, and abilities.

· Learn and follow all school curriculum and adapt as needed.

Classroom Management:

· Maintain a positive and organized classroom environment.

· Establish and enforce classroom rules and routines to promote a respectful and productive atmosphere.

· Address behavioral issues and implement strategies to encourage positive social interactions and conflict resolution.

Assessing and Monitoring Student Progress:

· Conduct regular assessments to evaluate student understanding and progress, including tests, quizzes, assignments, and observations.

· Track individual and class performance, adjusting instruction to meet the needs of students.

· Provide feedback to students and parents regarding progress and areas for improvement, including issuing report card grades and comments.

Supporting Social and Emotional Development:

· Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment where students feel safe, valued, and respected.

· Encourage positive self-esteem, social skills, and cooperative learning among students.

· Address students' emotional and behavioral needs, and work with counselors or specialists when necessary.

Collaboration and Communication:

· Collaborate with other teachers, staff, and administrators to support the overall development of students.

· Communicate regularly with parents about student performance, behavior, and development through electronic means, meetings, phone calls, and written reports.

· Participate in school events, parent-teacher conferences, and professional development workshops.

School Community:

· Be an active member of our Shevet (Tribes) program.

· Participate in the Mensch program - positive behavior program/intervention.

· Participate in and assist with school events as required. (MLK, Purim, Lag B'Omer, field day, etc..)

· Duties: staff are assigned to Tefillah, arrival, lunch, recess, dismissal, clubs, etc.

· Substitute teaching when assigned.

Professional Behaviors:

· Demonstrates consistent professionalism in interactions with students, colleagues, and parents, maintaining a respectful and collaborative demeanor.

· Adheres to school policies and ethical standards, setting a positive example within the educational community. This includes punctuality, professional appearance, adherence to call off guidelines, etc.

· Attend and constructively contribute to staff, division and team meetings.

· Participate in professional development and training courses.
