What You Do Our Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing preventive facility maintenance and minor repairs across the organization's office sites. This role ensures the functionality and safety of approximately 144,000 square feet of office space spread over five locations within the metro-Richmond area. The technician will be tasked with maintaining the building's interior and exterior, ensuring that all facilities are in optimal condition to support the center's operations.
The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or general education degree (GED) and a minimum of three to five years of maintenance experience. Experience in minor repairs to buildings, facilities, service equipment, and other related equipment is essential. An equivalent combination of education and experience in maintenance fields such as carpentry, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, drywall, or painting will also be considered.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine preventive maintenance on the building's interior and exterior to ensure the operational efficiency and safety of all office sites.
- Perform maintenance tasks, such as carpentry, painting, plumbing, and minor electrical repairs, to ensure facilities are properly maintained. 
- Clean and repair building fixtures, including lights, locks, windows, doors, walls, floors, gutters, and drains, to maintain a safe and welcoming environment for staff and visitors.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with building systems and equipment, implementing timely repairs to minimize disruption to operations.
- Collaborate with management to prioritize maintenance tasks and schedule repairs, ensuring minimal impact on daily activities at the office sites.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections to ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
- Assist in the development and implementation of maintenance procedures and protocols to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of facility operations.
- Provide support to external contractors and vendors during facility upgrades and renovations, ensuring that all work is completed to high standards and within established timelines.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies, demonstrating a commitment to maintaining a safe and functional work environment.
Required Education, Experience, and/or Licensure:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Valid Driver's License and an acceptable driving record
- Experience in minor repairs to buildings, facilities, service equipment, and other related equipment.
- Minimum of three to five years maintenance experience or equivalent combination of education and experience in the maintenance field, including carpentry, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, drywall, or painting.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Proficiency in performing routine preventive maintenance on building interiors and exteriors.
- Ability to execute maintenance tasks such as carpentry, painting, plumbing, and minor electrical repairs efficiently.
- Skilled in cleaning and repairing building fixtures, including lights, locks, windows, doors, walls, floors, gutters, and drains.
- Strong problem-solving skills to identify and rectify maintenance issues promptly.
- Capability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks across 5 office sites within the metro-Richmond area, covering approximately 144,000 square feet.
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with team members and office staff.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while ensuring high standards of maintenance and repair work.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and practices to ensure a secure working environment.
- Physical ability to perform manual labor tasks and operate maintenance tools and equipment safely.
