We are seeking an experienced and proactive Design Manager to join a top business specialising in Student Accommodation projects to take responsibility for managing the design process from pre‑construction through to project delivery. You will play a key role in coordinating consultants, ensuring design compliance, and supporting successful, buildable project outcomes. Key Responsibilities
Manage and coordinate the design process across all project stages Lead design development from tender through construction and handover Coordinate architects, engineers, and specialist consultants Ensure designs are compliant with statutory requirements, building regulations, and client briefs Manage design programmes, deliverables, and information flow Identify and manage design risks, opportunities, and value engineering options Chair and lead design meetings and workshops Review drawings and specifications for buildability, cost, and programme impact Work closely with commercial, planning, and site teams to ensure design intent is delivered Manage design changes and ensure accurate, timely information is issued to site Requirements
Proven experience as a Design Manager in Student Accommodation or Build to Rent schemes Strong understanding of construction methods and sequencing Experience managing multi-disciplinary design teams Ability to interpret and challenge technical drawings and specifications Excellent organisational, communication, and coordination skills Strong knowledge of relevant building regulations and industry standards Proficient in design management systems and document control platforms Desirable (but not essential)
Relevant qualification in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or similar What We Offer
