The Executive Director is the key management leader of The Joseph Center and reports directly to the Eagles Nest Board of Directors (BOD). The Executive Director is responsible for guiding the vision and direction of the organization. This includes managing community outreach programs, day-to-day policy, grants, fundraising, and financial oversight, as well as overseeing development and management of the organization's web presence, staff management and training, and marketing operations. Normal office hours are Monday through Friday from 9 am to 5 pm. However, some meetings and/or special events demand time outside of the regular schedule and may require an adjustment to normal office hours.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

1) Board Governance: Works closely with the Board of Directors to fulfill the organization's mission.

  • Responsible for leading The Joseph Center in a manner that supports and guides the organization's mission as defined by the Board of Directors.
  • Responsible for communicating effectively with the Board of Directors and providing, in a timely and accurate manner, all information necessary for the Board to function properly and to make informed decisions.

2) Financial Performance and Viability: Develops resources enough to ensure the financial health of the organization.

  • Responsible for the fiscal integrity of The Joseph Center, to include submission to the board of a proposed annual budget and monthly financial statements, which accurately reflect the financial condition of the organization.
  • Responsible for fiscal management that generally anticipates operating within the approved budget; ensures maximum resource utilization, and maintenance of the organization in a positive financial position.
  • Responsible for fundraising, grants, and developing other resources necessary to support The Joseph Center's mission.

3) Organization Mission and Strategy: Works with board and staff to ensure that the mission is fulfilled through programs, strategic planning, and community outreach.

  • Responsible for implementation of The Joseph Center's programs that carry out the organization's mission.
  • Responsible for strategic planning to ensure that The Joseph Center can successfully fulfill its mission into the future.
  • Responsible for the enhancement of The Joseph Center's image by being active and visible in the community and by working closely with other professional, civic, and private organizations.

4) Organization Operations; Oversees and implements appropriate resources to ensure that the operations of the organization are efficient and proper.

  • Responsible for effective administration of The Joseph Center operations and staff, to include security and order.
  • Responsible for the hiring and retention of competent, qualified staff.
  • Responsible for confidentiality, discretion of use, and integrity of resident personal information.
  • Responsible for signing all notes, agreements, and other instruments made and entered into and on behalf of the organization, as approved by the board.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • A Master Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Human Services, Social Work, Public Administration, Business Administration, or related field
  • 3 or more years management experience
  • Transparent, high integrity leadership with strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational abilities including planning, delegating, program development and task facilitation
  • Excellent organizational skills, analytical skills, oral/written communications skills, and problem-solving skills
  • Self-motivated, energetic, detail oriented multi-tasker with a passion for serving the underserved and a heart for improving the lives of others
  • Ability to convey the vision of The Joseph Center's strategic future to staff, board, volunteers, and donors
  • Ability to interface with and engage diverse donor groups
  • Ability to engage, collaborate with, and motivate board members and volunteers
  • Ability to work well without close supervision
  • Excellent experience working with all Microsoft Office programs, to include the ability to utilize Office tools for regular analysis and communication

Preferred:

  • Five or more years senior nonprofit management experience
  • Demonstrated success in public relations, volunteer coordination and community leadership
  • Demonstrated success in fundraising and grant writing
  • Knowledge of fundraising strategies and donor relations unique to nonprofit sector
  • Prior employment or volunteer experience with a non-profit organization
  • Experience in the human/social service field
  • Experience working with veterans

ACTUAL JOB RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Report to and work closely with the Eagles Nest Board of Directors to seek their involvement in policy decisions, fundraising, and increasing the overall visibility of the organization throughout the Bi-State Metropolitan Area.
  • Meet regularly with board president to facilitate effective communication on relative issues.
  • Lead strategic planning efforts to work with the Board to create vision and goals for the future.
  • Maintain employment and administrative policies and procedures for all functions and for the day-to-day operations of the nonprofit.
  • Enforce all policies and procedures for the organization.
  • Supervise and direct The Joseph Center Staff, providing regular performance reviews.
  • Complete all Federal and State nonprofit filing requirements on time and as required.
  • Complete all monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual reporting requirements on time and as required.
  • Complete all new grants, grant renewals, and grant reports on time and as required.
  • Maintain files and records as required by law.
  • Supervise the budget, audit, and all financial management within the organization.
  • Balance a limited budget with operational needs, finding ways to save dollars.
  • Comprise and submit the proposed annual budget to the board by May 1st, annually.
  • Plan, develop, implement, and lead an annual fundraising campaign.
  • Serve as The Joseph Center's primary spokesperson to the organization's constituents, the media, and public.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with various organizations throughout the Bi-State Metropolitan area and utilize those relationships to strategically enhance The Joseph Center's Mission.
  • Build and foster relationships with nonprofit partners, VA liasons, grant partners, and community partners.
  • Coordinate public relations and marketing by building cooperative relationships with media outlets, maintaining a year-long outreach plan, and overseeing the creation and distribution of printed and online materials.
  • Engage volunteers across all organizational goals by setting clear expectations and providing continuous feedback and gratitude.
  • Review policies and handbooks annually and update as necessary.
  • Establish and oversee a resident advisory board.
  • Oversee completion and timeliness of all resident assessments, plans, and notes.
  • Achieve and maintain record compliance under HIPAA.
  • Ensure residents have individual and group counseling therapy available as needed.
  • Maintain availability 24hrs a day in case of emergency.
  • Attend all monthly board meetings.
  • Work in the office at The Joseph Center during standard business hours.
  • Travel when required; not more than 5% of the business year.
  • Review and approve contracts for services, in partnership with the board.
  • Maintain the building and grounds, effectively utilizing staff, residents, volunteers, and subcontractors.
  • Meet all safety measures/regulations that are applicable to The Joseph Center and its operations.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Board of Directors.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: Up to $80,000.00 per year
