Backend Software Engineer — Confidential Client (Seattle or New York City)

About the Role

Our client — a fast-growing global technology company in the food and logistics space — is seeking
Backend Software Engineers
to design and optimize systems that power mission-critical applications at scale. You'll work across infrastructure, platform, and product development, building technology that directly impacts real-world operations.

This role is
on-site in either Seattle or New York City
, collaborating with world-class engineers and product leaders on high-impact challenges in automation, AI, and distributed systems.

What You'll Do

• Design and implement scalable backend systems and APIs.
• Develop microservices using modern technologies such as
  Go, Java, or Python
  .
• Work with cloud platforms (
  AWS, GCP, Azure
  ) and containerization tools (
  Docker, Kubernetes
  ).
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver features that drive measurable business impact.
• Participate in system design discussions, architecture reviews, and performance tuning.

What We're Looking For

5+ years of backend software engineering experience

Degree in Computer Science or another STEM discipline

Strong proficiency in
Go
or
Java

Deep understanding of
RESTful APIs
,
microservices
, and
distributed systems

Experience with
PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis
, or similar databases

Knowledge of
CI/CD pipelines
and
DevOps
best practices

Excellent debugging and problem-solving skills

Willingness to work
on-site, 5 days per week, in Seattle or NYC

Nice to Have

• Experience in high-growth startups or top-tier tech environments
• Exposure to large-scale data systems or event-driven architectures
• Mentorship or technical leadership experience

Compensation & Benefits

Salary:
$190K–$210K base
(commensurate with experience)
