Über

The Professional Maintenance Lead is responsible for directing skilled trades personnel and supporting the objectives of the maintenance department within a fast-paced, high-volume, unionized manufacturing environment. This role plays a key part in improving safety, quality, delivery, cost, and team morale while ensuring equipment reliability and production efficiency.

The selected candidate will champion maintenance excellence, coordinate both planned and reactive maintenance activities, and develop team members in World Class Manufacturing (WCM) methodologies. This position requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and the ability to drive continuous improvement across the plant.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and directly supervise skilled trades employees, ensuring effective support for production operations.
  • Coordinate safety, quality, delivery, cost, and morale initiatives within the maintenance department.
  • Support and drive throughput improvements by overseeing professional maintenance and breakdown maintenance activities.
  • Apply technical knowledge of Time-Based Maintenance (TBM), Condition-Based Maintenance (CBM), and Dynamic Maintenance (DM).
  • Influence key performance indicators (KPIs) including:
  • Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF)
  • Mean Time to Repair (MTTR)
  • Equipment uptime and reliability
  • Ensure equipment is maintained at basic conditions while driving continuous improvement.
  • Address downtime, run-to-run, and throughput issues in collaboration with the Professional Maintenance Specialist (PMS).
  • Guide skilled trades employees in reducing waste and improving processes through WCM methods:
  • Autonomous Maintenance (AM)
  • Professional Maintenance (PM)
  • Quality Maintenance (QM)
  • Focused Improvement (FI)
  • People Development (PD)
  • Lead and participate in Kaizen activities targeting OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) improvements and cost-reduction opportunities.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to both hourly and supervisory team members on problem-solving and corrective action implementation.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining alignment with production and maintenance priorities.
  • Perform all duties 100% onsite and be available to work any shift as required.

Basic Qualifications

  • Valid driver's license (required)
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum 3 years of industrial automation experience
  • Project management experience
  • Ability to work any shift and required overtime
  • Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively at all levels, from hourly employees to senior leadership
  • Ability to build and maintain productive working relationships
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
  • Goal-driven, self-motivated leader with the ability to coach and develop skilled trades teams
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical or engineering field
  • Experience leading maintenance teams in a unionized manufacturing environment
  • Familiarity with continuous improvement and lean manufacturing systems
  • Green Belt, Red X, or Six Sigma training
  • Hands-on experience with:
  • Robotics, controls, drives, and system-level communication systems
  • Sealing systems, glass cell systems, conveyance systems
  • All types of welding processes
  • Paint processes and related systems
  • Vision systems and industrial sensors
  • Working knowledge of World Class Manufacturing (WCM) pillar methodology
  • Proficiency in Google Suite applications

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $ $34.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
