Overview
We are a fast-growing wholesale bakery producing high-quality baked goods for grocery, food-service, and retail partners. We are seeking an experienced Kitchen/Production Manager to lead our production team, improve efficiency, and ensure consistent, top-tier product quality. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume commercial kitchen and is passionate about operations, leadership, and continuous improvement.
The Kitchen Manager is responsible for overseeing all daily production operations, managing kitchen staff, and ensuring that all products meet strict quality and food-safety standards. This role works closely with ownership and the operations team to forecast production needs, optimize workflows, control costs, and maintain a safe, positive working environment.
The ideal candidate has a strong background in commercial baking or high-volume food production, excellent leadership skills, and a deep understanding of production planning, scheduling, and food-safety compliance.
Production Management
- Oversee all daily baking, prep, mixing, and packaging operations
- Create and manage production schedules based on sales forecasts and orders
- Ensure consistent product quality and adherence to recipes and specifications
- Monitor batch yields, waste, and production efficiency
- Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant kitchen environment
Leadership & Team Management
- Supervise, train, and mentor production staff
- Assign daily tasks and manage labor according to demand
- Conduct performance evaluations and maintain team accountability
- Foster a positive, collaborative work culture
Quality & Food Safety
- Enforce HACCP, GMPs, and all food-safety protocols
- Maintain accurate production logs, temperature records, and compliance documentation
- Work with QA or ownership to pass audits and meet customer standards
Operations & Efficiency
- Improve workflow, reduce waste, and optimize labor usage
- Help maintain equipment and coordinate repairs
- Manage inventory of raw materials and supplies
- Work closely with purchasing to forecast ingredient needs
Communication
- Collaborate with sales/operations on order changes and fulfillment
- Communicate clearly with all shifts and departments to ensure accuracy and consistency
- Report key metrics to ownership (labor %, waste %, yields, production output, etc.)
Qualifications
- 3–5+ years experience in a commercial bakery, food production, or manufacturing kitchen
- Strong leadership and team-management skills
- Knowledge of food-safety standards (HACCP, GMP, SQF preferred)
- Ability to read/scale recipes and manage batch production
- Comfortable with early-morning or overnight shifts (if applicable)
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and work on your feet in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organizational and communication skills
Preferred Experience (Not Required)
- Experience with wholesale or high-volume bakery production
- Familiarity with automated bakery equipment (mixers, sheeters, ovens, etc.)
- Production scheduling or ERP software (e.g., Fulcrum, Katana, ERP systems)
Pay: $ $25.40 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
