Jacobs Advanced Manufacturing – Data Centers is seeking a visionary leader for the role of Electrical Engineering Department Manager. This position is open to both current employees and experienced professionals from outside Jacobs. The successful candidate will lead a team in designing hyperscale data center facilities.

Main Responsibilities

As the
Electrical Engineering Discipline Manager (DM),
you will develop and execute a global strategy for the Electrical Department that aligns with Jacobs' and Advanced Manufacturing objectives. You will be responsible for coordinating resource management and utilization across the data center group and will work in close collaboration with the Manager of Engineering (MOE), the Vice President of Engineering, Project Managers, and Sales/Business Development.

Your commitment to continuous improvement and process optimization will elevate the efficiency and productivity of the data center team. Your teams will deliver designs for state-of-the-art hyperscale data center facilities. You will be accountable to meet client expectations regarding technical quality, schedule, and budget.

Key Responsibilities

  • Resource Management

  • Lead workforce planning and global resource strategy

  • Manage hiring, recruiting, and internal staff mobility
  • Create processes that minimize emergency staffing interventions

  • Technical Leadership

  • Champion technical excellence in collaboration with technologists

  • Own and maintain core technical standards (e.g., master specs, calculation templates)
  • Establish and maintain technical standards and best practices
  • Ensure QA/QC processes are embedded and self-sustaining
  • Drive a culture of proactive quality, reducing reliance on last-minute fixes

  • Strategic Planning

  • Develop long-term staffing and skill strategies

  • Drive succession planning and talent pipeline
  • Communicate business strategy and connect team activities to organizational goals

  • Department Development

  • Design onboarding, training, and workflows that enable autonomy

  • Foster coaching, mentoring, and career development
  • Oversee performance reviews and departmental escalations
  • Serve as communication bridge for team needs and leadership updates

Here's what you'll need

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
  • More than 12 years of electrical engineering experience (15 years preferred)
  • Demonstrated leadership of medium to large teams within a matrix organization
  • Strong inspirational and inclusive leadership skills
  • Strong organizational and communications skills
  • Ability to travel to meet teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (PE)
  • Hands-on experience with electrical design tools and processes
  • Experience with data center projects, including hyperscale facilities
  • Proven ability to inspire, coach, and develop high-performing global teams
  • Experience as section manager or similar role

The base salary range for this position is $166,400.00 to $228, Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
