Position Details:

  • Job Title: Sterile Processing Technician III

  • Location: Riley Outpatient Surgery Center
  • Schedule: Full Time
  • Hours: 10:00am - 6:30pm Monday through Friday (No weekends, nights, call, or holidays)

What You Will Do:

  • Cleans, wraps, sterilizes, stores and distributes equipment, supplies, instruments and endoscopes used in patient care.
  • Assists area clinical staff by using specialized knowledge in surgical instrumentation and procedures to prepare for surgical cases.
  • Provides technical guidance to others involved in the assembly of instrumentation and preparation of case carts.
  • Trains colleagues on various skills and tasks.
  • Acts as a resource or mentor to colleagues with less experience.

Candidates will only be considered who have 2 active CRCST/CSPDT/CFER national certificates and/or are a Certified Surgical Technologist. No provisional certifications will be accepted.

What You Will Need:

High School Diploma or GED required.

  • Requires one national certification (CRCST,CSPDT,CFER or CST) and a second national certification related to central service or sterile processing (Examples: CIS; CSIP; CFER; CST; CHMM; CHL).
  • Requires 24 CE credits annually that focus on information and advancement related to the CS field and be of a technical nature.
  • Must maintain current certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist obtained from the NBSTSA if in a hybrid OR/SPD role.
  • May require Basic Life Support certification through the AHA. Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
  • Requires demonstration of expert knowledge and skills identified as necessary to function as a Tech III.
  • Requires knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy.
  • Requires advanced preceptor skills and experience in mentoring and coaching.
  • Requires basic computer skills.
  • Strong knowledge of Endo instrumentation function and maintenance is preferred.
  • Requires some relevant experience in a healthcare environment.
