JOB SUMMARY
The Data Architect plays a key role in shaping and strengthening Weissman's data environment. In this role, they help design and manage the data warehouse, build efficient ETL pipelines, and ensure the integrity, security, and performance of enterprise data systems. This role is highly collaborative, working across IT and business functions to translate organizational goals into scalable, technical solutions.
This is an opportunity for a data expert who enjoys problem-solving and thrives in a collaborative, hybrid work environment. The ideal candidate brings deep SQL expertise, proven experience with relational databases and data warehouses, and the ability to lead conversations with both technical and non-technical teams. With strong communication skills and a focus on data quality, the Data Architect helps ensure that the company's information is accurate, reliable, and ready to power decisions.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design, develop, and support the company's Data Warehouse and related technologies.
- Build, optimize, and maintain ETL processes to manage company data.
- Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance across all systems.
- Monitor and improve SQL transactional processes, including stored procedures and views.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, analysts, project managers, and developers to translate business needs into technical solutions.
- Provide expert consultation on data modeling, database design, and system enhancements.
- Support performance tuning and optimization of large-scale data operations.
- Contribute to the development and enforcement of data governance policies.
- Lead efforts to align technical strategies with business goals.
- Stay current on new tools, technologies, and best practices to improve data architecture.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
Experience
- 4–6 years designing and developing relational databases for applications.
- 4–6 years designing and developing a Data Warehouse or similar technology.
- 10+ years proficiency in SQL for Microsoft SQL Server.
- 4–6 years translating business goals into technical requirements in a collaborative environment.
- 1–3 years implementing data governance policies, data quality management, security, and compliance.
- 4–6 years database administration for Microsoft SQL Server or similar platforms.
- 1–3 years of cloud-based data platform experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- High-level expertise in data modeling and design.
- Strong knowledge of database systems (SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, NoSQL).
- Proven ability to build and manage ETL data pipelines.
- Strong SQL programming expertise.
- Working knowledge of programming languages such as Java, HTML, CSS, .NET, and C#.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to bridge technical and non-technical conversations.
