Job Description:
Perform set up for events of the district, support elementary maintenance and custodial, and attend to night emergencies district wide while on duty. Provide students and staff with a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean, and efficient place in which to learn, plan, develop, and work.
12-month, full-time position.40 hours per week, occasionally on call. Scheduled Hours are 10:00 am – 6:00 pm and 2:00 pm – 10:00 pm, depending on school activities
Qualifications:
- Two year Associate degree in a trade or 5 years trade experience preferred. Special consideration for experience in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, or construction.
- Ability to adequately comprehend written instructions.
- Ability to adequately use technology associated with position.
- Physical ability to handle items weighing up to 75 pounds using proper lifting techniques and assistance when needed.
- Demonstrate ability to safely operate all required equipment and tools.
- Possess a valid Wisconsin Class D driver's license.
- Current First Aid/CPR certified preferred or willing to obtain.
- Knowledge of cleaning practices, disinfecting procedures, and safe use of cleaning chemicals.
- Successful completion of safety and hazardous materials seminars/courses as required.
- Additional testing for qualifications may be given.
Essential Job Functions:
- Must be able to arrive at work promptly and attend regularly.
- On call duty will be rotated between the maintenance employees.
- Perform job functions in an ethical manner as defined by the School District of Denmark.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, co-workers, other staff, parents and students.
- Comply with safety procedures and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
- Perform a variety of preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs in the areas of minor electrical, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, grounds, warehouse and cleaning equipment and other equipment as directed.
- Maintain maintenance logs for repairs or work done on equipment and systems.
- Use the air-lift, ladders and scaffolding where applicable.
- Perform snow removal using shovel, plow or other equipment. Equipment operator experience preferred.
- Respond to emergency breakdowns of equipment or systems and alarm calls as directed.
- Work in conjunction with outside contracted personnel.
- Assist other maintenance, grounds, food service and custodial personnel as directed.
- Read and interpret equipment manuals, emails and work orders to perform required maintenance, deliveries and service.
- Keep buildings and premises, including sidewalks, driveways, and play areas, neat and clean at all times.
- Check daily to ensure that all exit doors are open and all panic bars are working properly during the hours of building occupancy. Determine, before leaving, that all doors and windows are secured, and all lights, except those left on for safety reasons, are turned off.
- Perform safe and hygienic cleanup of bodily fluids, including vomit, blood, urine, and feces, in accordance with school protocols. Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and approved disinfectants for biohazard cleanup.
- Follow proper procedures for containment, disposal, and sanitization in incidents involving bodily fluids.
- Backup for cleaning/custodial staff when needed.
- Move furniture or equipment within the building as required for various activities and as directed by the principal.
- Make minor building repairs and report major repairs or any damage to school property promptly to the supervisor and/or principal.
- Back up for internal mail delivery and money pick up.
- Remain on the school premises during school hours, and during non-school hours when the use of the building has been authorized and extended work hours have been approved. However, when appropriate, leave school premises to perform other functions for the District, i.e. going to the hardware store to pick up supplies.
- Comply with all safety rules (ex. OSHA, AHERA, local laws, etc.) and District policies and procedures.
- Check daily email, work order system, building HVAC system, and activity schedule and complete requests.
- Set up, support, and tear down for evening events.
- Attend related training sessions and classes as assigned.
- Perform all grounds and maintenance work as assigned by the director.
- Serve as a positive role model for students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible, intelligent human beings. Responsible for helping to instill in students the belief in and practice of ethical principles and democratic values.
- Performs building inspections and safety inspections as assigned.
- Receive, inventory, and deliver all items brought in the building through outside delivery.
- Maintain control over assigned tools and equipment to ensure proper safety, inventory, maintenance and replacement.
- Use of personal vehicles may be required to pick up hardware and other items required to maintain the building when necessary. Mileage will be reimbursed per District's standard rate.
- Perform related duties as directed by the Facilities Director or his/her designee.

Pay: $24.17 per hour
