Job Overview
Under broad supervision, the
GDOT IT Project Manager
will lead and support multiple end-to-end technical projects, ensuring timely and accurate execution of project deliverables. This role involves working closely with engineering, vendors, and internal stakeholders while managing timelines, documentation, communication channels, and project governance.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, proactive, and capable of running complex technical projects with minimal oversight. This role also requires applying both Agile and traditional Waterfall methodologies in a hybrid environment.
Local Applicants Only – Must be able to work onsite 2–3 days weekly in Atlanta (Midtown).

Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership & Collaboration
- Manage multiple simultaneous IT and infrastructure/software projects from initiation to delivery.
- Work collaboratively with project managers, vendors, clients, and engineering teams to ensure alignment and timely follow-through.
- Prepare and deliver presentations, kick-offs, and project charters including business drivers, scope, audiences, communications plan, and phase planning.
Agile & Waterfall Project Execution
- Apply Agile methods (Kanban, Scrum) within a hybrid environment while maintaining traditional project schedules.
- Facilitate routine meetings, standups, sprint ceremonies, and project reviews.
- Maintain project boards and dashboards using
Jira
and
ServiceNow
.
Documentation & Communication
- Draft, maintain, and archive detailed project documentation, SOPs, and process documents.
- Analyze incoming emails, identify action items, and respond with clarity and professionalism.
- Produce meeting notes that support executive decision-making and traceability.
Project Governance & Reporting
- Maintain all project status reports, roadmaps, and progress updates using the provided tool stack.
- Identify risks, constraints, and inefficiencies; recommend and reinforce process improvements.
- Ensure proper escalation paths are followed and communication channels remain open across all teams.
Tools & Platforms
Hands-on experience with the following is expected:
- Jira, Confluence, ServiceNow
- Microsoft Project Online
- SharePoint Project Templates
- Microsoft Outlook (advanced scheduling, alerts)
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of experience
in IT or technical project management. - College degree
or relevant certifications preferred (PMP, CSM, ITIL, etc.). - Exceptional writing & editing skills
for documentation and communication. - Experience reviewing contracts and extracting technical scope.
- Ability to operate independently with minimal supervision.
Additional Information
- This is a
long-term position
, but subject to annual budget approvals. - The initial contract runs through the end of this fiscal year with
planned renewal
in July 2026. - Onsite work is required in
Atlanta – Midtown
as needed by the project schedule.
