PRIMARY PURPOSE:

The School Psychologist provides comprehensive psychological and consultative services to support students' academic, social-emotional, and behavioral success. This includes conducting psychoeducational assessments, developing individualized intervention plans, participating in special education eligibility decisions, and collaborating with families, staff, and outside agencies to promote student well-being and educational progress.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Educational Psychology, or a related field or Master's degree in Educational Psychology, School Psychology, or related discipline (minimum requirement)

Certification/Licensure:

State licensure or certification as a School Psychologist or eligibility for licensure in Texas

Experience:

Experience working in school or educational settings

Experience with psychological assessments, interventions, and IEP development

Preferred: Published research or demonstrated use of data-based decision making

Special Knowledge and Skills:

Strong knowledge of special education laws and IDEA regulations

Skilled in administering, scoring, and interpreting psychological, academic, and behavioral assessments

Strong understanding of learning theories, developmental psychology, and evidence-based interventions

Knowledge of MTSS, RTI, and behavior management systems

Proficiency in data analysis and statistical software

Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and families

Demonstrated cultural competence and ability to serve diverse populations

Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information in accordance with professional ethics

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

Assessment and Evaluation

Conduct comprehensive psychological evaluations to determine cognitive, academic, emotional, behavioral, and adaptive functioning.

Participate in ARD (Admission, Review, and Dismissal) meetings and provide input regarding eligibility and program planning.

Collaborate with teachers and related service providers to ensure alignment between assessment data and IEP goals.

Prepare clear, comprehensive evaluation reports in compliance with district and state timelines.

Use culturally responsive assessment tools and procedures to support equity in evaluation.

Consultation and Intervention

Consult with teachers, administrators, and families to develop and implement classroom-based and individualized supports.

Participate in MTSS and RTI processes, including data review and intervention planning.

Provide direct psychological services, including counseling or behavior intervention, for students as needed.

Support staff development related to mental health, child development, behavior management, and inclusive practices.

Collaboration and Communication

Serve as a liaison between the school, families, and outside mental health or medical providers.

Support the development of behavior intervention plans (BIPs) and provide ongoing consultation on implementation.

Collaborate with ARD committees to develop evidence-based, measurable goals and track progress.

Communicate complex information clearly and respectfully with all stakeholders.

Program and Compliance Support

Assist in the evaluation and continuous improvement of psychological services across the district.

Maintain accurate, timely documentation and comply with all relevant federal, state, and local laws.

Stay current with research and best practices through ongoing professional development.

Maintain regular attendance and professional conduct.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Mental Demands:

Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress; handle confidential information appropriately; interpret and apply data, regulations, and procedures.

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Frequent standing, walking, and movement across campuses; possible lifting of materials; prolonged computer use; potential biological exposure; regular district-wide travel.
