Senior Project Engineer

Position Overview:

We are seeking a Senior Project Engineer to join our team at a leading commercial general contractor specializing in public works projects. This role is pivotal in ensuring the successful execution of complex, multimillion-dollar builds, including infrastructure, educational facilities, municipal buildings, and other public-sector developments. The Senior Project Engineer will serve as a technical leader, coordinating between field operations, design teams, and stakeholders to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and track RFIs, submittals, change orders, and contracts in alignment with project specifications.
• Ensure compliance with public works requirements, including prevailing wage, safety standards, and regulatory guidelines.
• Maintain accurate project records and reporting for owners, architects, and governing agencies.
• Review drawings, specifications, and schedules to identify conflicts, risks, and opportunities for value engineering.
• Support field teams with technical problem-solving and ensure quality control across all phases of construction.
• Oversee subcontractor performance and verify adherence to contract documents.
• Act as a liaison between owners, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure alignment and resolve issues promptly.
• Prepare and deliver progress updates, meeting minutes, and project status reports to stakeholders.
• Provide guidance to junior engineers and project staff, fostering professional growth and technical excellence.
• Collaborate with project managers and superintendents to drive efficiency and maintain project momentum.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
• 2+ years of experience in commercial construction, with a strong background in public works projects preferred.
• Proficiency in Procore, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
• Strong understanding of public contracting processes, regulatory compliance, and quality assurance.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
