Position Summary:
The Machine Shop Maintenance Technician is a senior-level role responsible for the safe planning and independent execution of general maintenance and repair of complex machinery. This position emphasizes troubleshooting methods, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) practices, and 5S organization standards.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Independently plan and perform operations necessary to modify, repair, and maintain complicated machinery, while training and supporting less experienced technicians.
- Diagnose and correct machine troubles, including dismantling and reassembly, requiring advanced troubleshooting mechanical skills.
- Maintain conveyors, paint systems, and chemical processes independently.
- Work with sketches, drawings, schematics, or written instructions to perform work and make recommendations for problem resolution.
- Actively support the development of technicians within the maintenance team.
- Interpret and apply a variety of technical instructions.
- Conduct equipment installations (air, gas, rigging) with minimal direction.
- Perform basic electrical system repairs, including calculations of Watts, Volts, Amps, OHMS, and electrical loads.
- Possess basic comprehension and working knowledge of PLCs and automated systems.
- Maintain and perform preventative maintenance on all plant support equipment, including lasers and robots where applicable.
- Communicate technical issues effectively in group settings.
- Certify and maintain certifications for powered industrial vehicles and overhead cranes.
- Lead general housekeeping audits for 5S compliance.
- Understand, comply with, and lead others in support of ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 requirements.
- Perform special projects and related tasks as needed.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- High School Diploma/GED and 5+ years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Deep knowledge of schematics, hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical systems.
- Basic knowledge of electrical components, including start/stop stations and relays/motor starters, with the ability to calculate electrical loads.
- Basic knowledge working on Lazar Cutter or Brake Press
- Advanced troubleshooting skills and mechanical maintenance experience are required.
- Must certify and maintain valid certification on all powered industrial vehicles and overhead crane operations within 30 days of starting the position.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- 2-Year Degree/Diploma in Industrial Technology Systems or a similar field is preferred.
- General knowledge of NFPA and NEC regulations.
- Experience in coaching and developing less experienced team members.

Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work in extreme hot or cold conditions.

- Occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
