Position Summary
The PRN MRI Technologist is responsible for performing high-quality MRI examinations on Siemens MRI systems while ensuring patient safety, comfort, and excellent clinical care. This position provides supplemental/"as needed" coverage, including weekends, evenings, and holidays based on department needs. The technologist will operate Siemens MRI equipment, follow established protocols, support radiologists, and maintain a patient-centered environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform MRI examinations using Siemens MRI scanners (1.5T/3T depending on site).
- Verify patient identification, screening forms, medical history, and safety considerations for MRI.
- Position patients accurately per protocol and modify techniques as necessary for optimal imaging.
- Operate Siemens MRI systems, coils, software interfaces, and advanced imaging sequences.
- Work collaboratively with radiologists and healthcare staff to ensure high-quality diagnostic images.
- Follow ALARA guidelines, MRI safety standards, and departmental policies.
- Provide compassionate patient care, explain procedures, and address patient concerns.
- Perform image quality checks and send completed studies to PACS in a timely manner.
- Maintain cleanliness and readiness of MRI rooms, coils, and equipment.
- Assist with troubleshooting minor equipment issues and report service needs.
- Document all procedures and maintain accurate patient records.
- Flexibly respond to PRN scheduling, including on-call or short-notice shifts as needed.
Qualifications
- ARRT (R) (MR) certification required or ARRT (R) with eligibility for MR.
- State licensure, if applicable.
- Minimum 1 year of MRI experience, with proficiency on Siemens MRI systems preferred or required.
- BLS/CPR certification required.
- Strong knowledge of MRI safety (Zones I–IV) and screening processes.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Siemens platforms such as Aera, Avanto, Skyra, Sola, Vida, or similar.
- Familiarity with advanced Siemens sequences (e.g., DWI, SWI, MRA, Dixon, Cardiac, Breast).
- Excellent communication skills and patient-focused approach.
- Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving abilities.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: From $40.00 per hour
Expected hours: 5 – 10 per week
